Question about non-sequential and smog

So I'm thinking of buying an RX-7 this summer and until then I'm just researching. I came across the non-sequential mod that from what I've read may lower under-hood temps, greatly reduce number of vacuum hoses, and improve reliability/longevity of turbo system. However, it looks like all the emissions equipment is bypassed or taken out.

I was wondering if people in California do a modified version of the non-sequential conversion while retaining some emissions equipment in order to pass smog. Or does everyone that's non-sequential pay extra for their smog lol?

If it is not possible to go non-sequential without passing smog, is maintaining the stock sequential system as difficult as some people make it out to be (like fiddling around in the engine bay every few weeks)?

Assume the RX-7 in question for this scenario has intake, DP, hi-flo cat, cat-back, intercooler, and tuned ECU at 10-12 psi as power mods.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

You don't have to remove the emissions equipment for the non-sequential setup. It's just in the write-ups you read because it's sort of a "while you're at it, why not?" type of thing.

That's what I figured, but will there still be a significant reduction in vacuum lines even if you're keeping emissions?
