lol!
Typically a hood tilt can result in worse engine bay temps as airflow is disrupted and cowl induction takes place, trapping hot air. I've taken some things out, however, that allows the air to flow through the radiator right out the back of the engine bay.
Heat soak is quite a problem for rx8s and dammit, fe3p would sound so much more badass than SE3P.
There's some JDM hood tilt piece that cost triple digit $$$ or one can implement some good ol' home depot ingenuity!
I <3 when someone pulls up next to me and shouts, "HEY, you're hood is open!!!" Me - "I know!"

Running hard for extended periods proves a problem - this helps relieve it. Sorry but for this car I've gone for function over form, regardless of decade. Vented CF hood costs $$$, weighs the same as stock, and is likely to have shitty fitment. Not worth it for a performance based car if there is a much cheaper alternative with comparable results.
what exactly do you have done that prevents you from being privy to the forces of physics? the point i'm arguing is regarding function AND form. did you test temperatures before and after on the car?
the reason why mazda offered a 100,000 mile warranty on their engines was because the renesis does not have any problems with cooling (albeit with a properly functioning stock cooling system).
Not to mention the front end of an RX-8 has only 30% of its intakes exposed.. the rest is covered by plastic behind the honeycomb mesh. did you remove those parts in the name of better air flow?
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I just want to see some validity behind your bold claims about the hood props. its a topic that's been revisited time and time again and the consensus is that it doesn't do **** for engine temperatures. This early 90's trend in japan came to an end when some guy in an s13 got his head decapitated when he got in a front end accident and the hood plunged straight through the windshield all guillotine-like.

Alot of people do the hood popping out here in the NYC tri-state area, its very popular. I'm not a huge fan of it but I'm just saying it is common in some places for looks, not really any performance benefits.
awesome. Do you have hello kitty seat cover? If not you should get some for the ladies. Well my little brother has that "J-Rock" look so all the emo girls seem to love him because of his hair. Most hispanic girls think I am hispanic so they like me but sadly I always end up with "Indie" girls who are full of ****.

The extended warranty has nothing to do with renesis' reliability, quite the opposite in fact. The only parts that received the recently extended warranty were housings/rotors/seals. Motors were going it was unacceptable. I know individuals with 3 motors in 60,000 miles. The main culprit has seemed to be carbon buildup/poor maintenance but some just seem to have bad luck. Said warranty has nothing to do with cooling.
Remove what honeycomb parts? You speak like I dont know my own car as well as you do...
I was saying I took a form/function direction with this car, not making a generalization. If vanity were of more importance I'd be running prettier/lower offset wheels, dual exhaust, and some sort of body/lip kit. Oh, I wouldnt have the hood tilted, either.
Fair questions, Id do the same :P

I refuse to believe a hood will rip itself from the hinges with out any flexing, miss both a-pillars, smash through a slanted windshield designed to stop stray truck tires, and still have enough inertia and structural integrity to SLICE a mans head off.
Show me something and I'll believe you.
No, let him go.
God's speed, you cosmonaut of science.
Oh and I just measured my hood and it'll only fit through the lower 6" of the windshield before the a-pillars get in the way. Take that and subtract the 1" that the hood has been "popped" and you're window of possibility only gets smaller. Ha ha I crack me up.
