Possibly leaving the rotary community......
Hey guys, Bored at work so I thought I throw this out there and maybe get some feedback.
I just finished my FD auto to manual swap and currently prepping for paint. I also have most the components to complete my "Spirit R copy". Although the engine would be here in 2 months. (01 RZ). Interior Head unit, Steering Wheel, Guages, Updated A/C control unit (minus seats I'm not paying 3500 for used seats), as well as exterior. Not sure if I would RHD it, but that was always there as well.
Anyway, I have an appointment Friday as tustin infiniti and will discuss several options. My 10 day pay-off is 4600. I have approximately a year and some change left on this. The way my car sits is considered fair condition, because of the stupid dent some *** put in my rear quarter panel, and some scratched the paint on the rear bumper as well, not extreme but you can see it. The current engine it has in there has 95K on it and runs well. Hardly modded, with a aftermarket V-Mount, a Greddy Exhaust system and HKS Twin intake. The last compression put it at high 90's. Which I will have the documentation for them. Along with my invoice stating all the current work that was done. Might even remove the mods before I get to the dealership.
Now the issue. I no longer have a daily driver. Thus I have hurried my project along within the last few months. But, when My car is finished and ready, Daily Driving an FD is just asking for trouble, w/various issues and putting wear and tear on a car that I always wanted to be just a weekend warrior. The dealership has 2 s2000's there that I'm going to look at. One is an 01' SS w/59k miles (18k) and the other is a 03 BB w/62k miles (20K) *** Of course Im going to try to see if they can spot an 04 or about, I would prever an AP2***. I will talk them down on the once I decide with. Thats a no brainier, but now I want options. And yes, the only car I would want is a s2k, its the car I wanted when I was in the military until I got out and fell in love with the rotary FD that I now have.
Of course buying another daily driver would be all great, but with my financial situation, its preventing me. I dropped 4k on my FD hurrying this along. On parts that I will probably end up getting and selling on here. But, until it gets to that point Ill wait. I lost my current DD to a moron plowing into it with his mustang.
(06 Sentra 1.8s)
Anyway If I do let my car go, I will remain here and hopefully snag a 2nd Gen later this year once money starts flowing again. College + FD = Terrible choice.
Whats that you guys say FD stands for?? FD = Financial Disaster?
Anyway, shoot some thoughts and of course Ill consider them, but I also wanna know what you think.

damn bro, sorrry to hear that,,., well you know, do what makes ya happy bro and ill be glad to take the fd off your hands!lol
but seriously, if you feel you must sell your car to get wat you want, then go for it dude, but everythings different outside this Rotary community.
just think bout it, get the fd running and see it, and feel it, enjoy it, you might not wanna let it go, s2ks are every were, but rotary owners are a dying breed,
well hope you decide to keep her.

+1 for post 5. Good point, and thanks zero. Like I said, selling the FD would only be temp, once college is done in a year, (maybe 2 ;p) I will come back, and definatly get my Spirit R clone back on the go.
Thanks guys,
-Rob
(If anything, I will have a 2nd gen by the end of the year ;p or before, but yea well see, friday will be the day Ill decide.)

But - you've come this far, why stop now? Just pick up a shitbox honda accord for $500 until you get on your feet again. I'm still in college, and I don't plan on getting an FD until I have a house. You're already there, and you've invested a lot of time/money/love into something that you like. What was the point of it if you decide to call it quits now? Don't you want to see your car project COMPLETED?
Nobody's saying it's going to be easy, but that's what separates the boys from the men.
handle it brotha, best of luck.

do what you must brotha, choices as these are never easy. there will be a point when it just comes to you. the logical choice that is. but if you do leave, you'll be back....for some more rotary crack haha
Damn bro, I'm still in the military and about to go to college so I know how harsh cash flow can get, but, how about not selling it, letting it sit until you get the cash flow to get it done, not to mention FD's go fro a pretty penny, plus we need as many rotaries in the streets as possible. just my 2 cents.
where would the Rx7 go is he sold it
Hmmm... kind of contradicts with:
LoL

LoL
What?! leaving? aww ****.
Anyway I got a friend at a dealership. He sold himself a S2k for ~12gs. He is a 4banger but yeah If you want I can give him a call to see if he can hook you up with a good deal.

S2000's blow engines more than rotarys!! LMAO. No joke, why do you think they stepped up the displacement from 2.0L to 2.2?
My buddy has one, he let me drive it, and i kid you not, his engine blew the next day. LMAO.
MazRx7, you know what you should get?

You based this on what? One driver?? I have about 5 friends who have s2ks and they have yet to encounter any engine issues at all.
