As an FYI... just renting a PARKING LOT at Cali-Speedway to host an event like SS is +$20k... just the PARKING LOT; no racing, no activity, nothing!

Just messaged to help get some $ "help" on the way.

Buy a T Shirt or three. I just ordered two, and I have a lifetime supply of T shirts already. Your wife needs a shirt, you kids need shirts, even your dog needs a shirt. So buy those shirts.

Everyone that has offered to pay a $20 or so gate fee to enter, now is your chance to donate that fee to keep SS14 going.

Sometimes there's red tape we can't cut through. There's peeps that make decisions that don't even OWN a rotary so how can they understand. Let's bring it back to its roots. If we organize it, they will come. I will contribute my grillin skills even if its in a goddamned costco parking lot.

Well you had a whole year to put on a new event that is bajillion times better than SevenStock as well.. yet I haven't seen you put in any work.. So what's with all the complaining?

aahhh... teddyrx2 welcome back... I've missed your uniformed input.

The club side had the event put together since JAN '11, and was awaiting approvals and acceptance from our partners, which in the past had never been a problem this late, but in MID-JUNE '11... again, repeat MID-JUNE,'11 a change of direction was requested of SS that we felt completely unacceptable. We tried to work and negotiate to get something together anyway with the partners, but around MID-JULY '11, it was not going to happen... so we had to regroup and get something together in the last one "1" month. So there you have it. A bit different than the tale you spin.

The easiest for us was just to cancel the event and wait for next year, but we felt this would let a lot of folks down, who contacted us to support an event this year.

Not sure who you're speakin of here... all of the guys on the club organizer side own RX's and some multiple. Between just Rotary13B1 and I, we have at least 8... and like all good rotary ethusiast/owners, only half run

Not sure a Costco will allow 400+ rotary owners grill and hang out in their lots on a weekend. At least there will be good grub just feet away!!

Hey Bern,

what about one of the local-ish casinos? Like Morongo, Pechanga. Heck near San Diego off the 8..the Golden Acorn,or Viejas Casino. Both of those are off the 94. That is a fun highway to cruise on
That was just a thought. I figure if we could agree to sellout some of the hotel rooms (if they have them?) They might be down for a big group of car peoples?

trust me casinos are not so easy to line up with the hoops you have to jump through and red tape to get passed with each and every department ..... doable but takes time.

I didn't go past this first step as i am not a rep from the Sevenstock Venture. Seems like there are couple Saturdays in Sept/Oct that are open. That lot is huge.

Huntington Beach Central Park?

They have a http://www.hbconcours.org/ there every summer and that fits many cars. The fee to get into that event was $20 if I am not mistaken.

I apologize if you have already checked into there Bern, just throwing out venues.

Guys, thank you for all of the venue ideas, we have considered all of the one listed and a lot more, believe me. We've been in contact with most of these venues, and are in the final decision stages as I write. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
