Depends, do you want a REALLY nice FC or a pretty shitty FD? Do you have a susbstantial income? If not, I'd make sure you buy a cream puff. Well maintained, good body, low mileage etc.
Another thing to think about is if this is going to be your daily driver or your fun/weekend car. (Recommended) If you want to make an Rx7 fast you'll have to pay to play. Chances are you won't have a ride sometimes so another car would be essential. A naturally aspirated FC is a decent daily driver and trying to make one fast is going to be costly and smog ILLEGAL so there is really no point.
If you're lookin at TII's and planning to modify it, I would suggest having a second car handy. If you're lookin at FD's I would suggest a second vehicle as well.
I sold my FD for 8k with 242k miles and the motor was on it's way out. There may be better deals out there but I'd be wary. Do your research and don't rush, pick the right one and you'll be set. Good Luck!

I'm not looking to make INTENSE mods. I just want something fun to drive. Not looking to go fast, but i tested an N/A FC and did seem a bit underpowered. Are V8's in an RX7 looked down upon in this community? Just curious. There's an FC being sold in pleasanton.

ahh! i actually saw your post! I was going to post a reply... but 12 k was it? is still a BIT steep... and i didn't want to insult you with a lower offer. It's definitely in the back of my mind. Pull out a loan and borrow maybe. Are you looking to sell it soon?

Would somebody buy Zach's friggin FD before he decides to drop in a V8 and install a lift kit. Actually Zach, you should turn the FD into a rolling test bed/display for your stereo install talents. The Scion Xb is cool but the FD is an attention getter. Oh.. going home I did 100mph past Ace while he was driving his buds new Xb... touche!

rkwan, yes we all know each other in real life. Most of us are like a big family. And no, my FD won't pass SMOG right now because it doesn't have a SMOG pump on the motor. 
But if you get one and install it then the car will pass SMOG just fine. And if you want to shoot me an offer for the FD that is under the $12K asking price then just send me a PM with your offer in it. I need to sell this car so I am willing to work on the price some.
Evan, I'm not going to do any installs in the FD. But I am doing a neat custom fiberglass install into the FC. Your car is looking good, I'm glad to see it back on the road bro. And ROFL @ the Mo Bell/Kimbo comment. I was thinking the same thing!!
Hoppy, I wish we could come up to Chico. But you picked a very bad weekend. Berry has been working long hours all week and the UFC pay per view is tomorrow night. Followed by a housewarming party at Berry's friend's place Sunday evening.
Lil' Nick, of course I'm still fighting. I'm in the gym 5 days a week for 2-3 hours per day. Are you wanting to come down and check it out? You can come and practice for free to see if you like it. There is also a group that trains on base every Tuesday and Friday. I'm sure that I could get someone to sign you on if you'd be interested.

My 2nd set of midbass's are here and it's time to build new door pods for them. I still have to finish my dash pods and my sub boxes too. But I'm getting there!!

Ah no prob, if you guys ever get a free weekend you should dart on up. Or maybe next time Jennifer comes up I'll be picking her up in Sac so we could at least drop by for a visit.
