Is that rebuild dvd really thorough? Thinking about buying an fd, but I want to be able to rebuild the motor if necessary. I am sure I can do it but would definitely need some guidance.

How are your mom and dad doing btw?

Side note, are you going to paint your housings or leave them polished?

hahaha damn it....
I think I'll leave them with the slight polish, but I'll powder coat the irons, I want to powder coat everything black so it doesn't look suspicious plus I don't like silver or polished pieces in the engine bay.

Jake were in. Its weird a secretary at one of my old jobs was reading them and one day she had me read number one during my lunch break. I have every book and every movie including deathly hallows part one. My wife likes them and I down loaded the audio books to play to my daughter in the car. So yeah we should meet up and see the last one together.
I dont have a opinion on powder coat over paint. I am sure the irons get really FN hot so i would make sure the powder coat can handle it.

Good news clubber! I'll be hitting up some junk yards in the next few weeks so I'll let you know what I find. Probably not going to be the best stuff considering I'm not on mainland! Anyone looking for unique parts just let me know what I should keep an eye out for.
i originally used the atkins rotary video which was on VHS back then... lol. it was semi thorough but good enough to get the basics which is all you need, i have no experience with any of the other instructionals.
i use high temp paint because its the cheapest method from a builder perspective, if i had the equipment and time i would powder coat engine parts but that is very time intensive and a bit costly to have done professionally but will give you the most durable long lasting finish. every high temp paint i have used does not hold up very well against fuel/carb cleaner and even oil can stain them. so if you have the money to burn i would go with powder coating.
powder coating requires sandblasting, application then masking and baking. in all it is about a 2 hour process if you are quick, which is why most shops charge about $100 per piece to powder coat. general spray paint takes me about 15-20 minutes for a whole engine and requires no special equipment.
