When: Saturday September 16th start time 1pm
Where: Starting in Lincoln and ending in Roseville
Why: To have a driving based meet and for a couple of people to win some money!
There is an entrance fee of $20 for this event! (See below for details)

Alright, we have all mentioned that we wanted a meet where driving was involved. Well now we are having one. This will be a poker run starting in Lincoln then heading up the nice twisty mountain roads to Auburn and back down into Roseville where we will hang out, eat, and decide the winner of the poker run. This is not a timed event so don't worry about who finishes first!

If you don't know how a poker run works I'll explain. Everyone that wants to play pays their entry fee and recieves 1 card at the starting point. From there we will have 3 stations set up at various points along the way where you will stop and receive another card. You'll receive your final card at the end point. Once everyone is at the end point then we'll see who has the best 5 card poker hand. The top 3 people will get paid out of the entrance fees. So hopefully everyone will come out and have a great time. There has been a lot of time and effort put into this already. We started planning it at the beginning of August. Special thanks go out to Evan (Racerrex90) for mapping out the course. It's a GREAT drive and I think that everyone will really enjoy it.

haha whoops, wasn't expecting to work a station. But it's cool Zach, i'm down for a station.

So how does this work though? This isn't a race so are you guys all going to cruise together to each station? Like if you guys all come to my station in a group and get a card from me, could I cruise with you guys to the next stations then in-n-out but not collect any poker cards, just come along for the cruise? I'll just wait for the info in the PM

Gabe, if you want to run then you can. We have enough volunteers to cover all the stations. Just let me know either way.

And how fast you get to a station won't determine if you'll get a better card or not. The decks will be shuffled and you'll be handed a card face down so it's just luck of the draw. Also, the group won't be released together. I'm going to space it out like a rally. There will be a couple of minutes in between each car leaving the starting point.

Here's the breakdown...
You'll get one card at the starting point. Another card at station 1. Here's where the fun starts. There is going to be a station in old town Auburn as well as a station on the sky bridge. You ony have to go to one of these stations. But you can go to both of them if you like. That way you'll end up with 6 cards instead of just five. It's like getting a bonus card. The best 5 card hand of poker will still win though. After those stations, there will be one last station in Folsom where you'll get a card. And then everyone will receive their last card at the finish.

I ran the course twice this weekend and it's a BEAUTIFUL drive!! Tons of twisty roads and not too much traffic. There are two routes to get to most all the stations. There's an easy/boring way and a fun/twisty way. Everyone will receive a map at the starting point so don't worry about not knowing the roads.

Last but not least. These roads are VERY VERY twisty so drive safe!!! There are SEVERAL 2nd and 3rd gear turns throughout the course. So just drive within your limits. THIS IS NOT A TIMED RACE!!!! Just have fun and enjoy the course that Racerrex90 planned out. It's going to be a great event!!

And if more people want to sign up then please do! It's going to be great and it looks like top prize will be about $100 or better so far! It will only go up if more people come out.

Zach

I've always wanted to do a poker run. Why do these things always get scheduled when i've got plans... It's not quite worth missing our last autocross of the year, and i've finally got her running...

Have a ton of fun, so you'll want to do this again, sometime when I can go.

Is your car done yet? Do you plan to bring it out or are you taking your parents car out.

Gabe, if you want to run then you can. We have enough volunteers to cover all the stations. Just let me know either way.
If you have enough people though, I guess I can be a backup if someone can't make it last minute. Jackie should be riding along with me so i'll talk to him, see if he wants to help station with me or would rather have us driving the roads.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but where exactly in Lincoln is everyone meeting? or is Lincoln so small everyone will just see each other? heh

I'm not 100% sure I can make it, they just changed my days off so I have to go into work Sat. nights now.. man I hate graveyard. I'm also in the middle of moving so might be busy.

I did get the RX-2 exhaust tweaked today, sounds much nicer now. No more raspy pissed off hornet sound, I barely recognized it after they were done.. but now I can get on the throttle without worrying about attracting cops from 17 miles away, heh. Muffler Tech @ Madison/Auburn does great work.

Mike, I hope that you'll be able to make it. It's going to be GREAT! Nader thanks for coming out bro. You'll be glad you did. It's an incredible run.

We are meeting up at McBean Park in Lincoln. Here are the directions.

Take I-80 East to the exit for Hwy 65 North towards Marysville. Keep straight on Hwy 65 north all the way in to Lincoln. You'll know you're in Lincoln because the speed limit will drop down to 25mph. You'll come to a stoplight which will be the corner of Hwy 65 and McBean Park Drive (Hwy 193). Take a right at that stop light and continue straight. About 1/4-1/2 mile up you'll see McBean Park on your right. Just look for the entrance to the parking lot and you'll see us there. We will have nice maps for everyone to look at for the poker run. Each car will get a map so that you won't get lost. If you want to use google maps or whatever then use this address. It's just after the parking lot where we'll be so it will get you to the right place.
61 McBean Park Dr, Lincoln, CA 95648
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...07231&t=h&om=1
That's a good picture of the park and the parking lot where we'll be at.

Zach

heh, "master of the old school.." nice.

I'll try, but 1-2PM is right when I should be sleeping. How long does the run take? Maybe I could just go straight home & crash afterwards.

Mike, you'll be able to complete the run in about an hour and a half if you don't hang around at the finish point and BS with everyone like we usually do. I think it'll be worth missing sleep.

Yeah, I'm planning on using 2 decks of cards. That way there is no worry of a card shortage. And I'll have a spare deck on hand in case more people sign up or show up last minute.
