CA NewB Question PLease Help.

Hey guy, I am new here, just recently move to cali from washington and have just about to finish my JDM swap on my FC. Just wondering if cali smog will check if it is JDM or not. Since the USDM intake manifold have some sensor on them and the JDM does not. anyone?

thanks

As I understand it, the JDM turbo engine is missing some of the smog equipment that's required by CA. Whether the smog tech knows what to look for is a different story.

I haven't messed with it, so I don't know the details, sorry.

JDM engine doesnt come with ERG valve, but if your vehicle is S5 model, you might able to get away with it.

I also did hear that jdm motors don't have egr's so thats a bummer... but you should have smogged the car with its original motor then swapped over after all the paperwork and everything was clear... cali has some strict *** smog laws and you'll soon find out... they added an evap test a few months ago and smog pricing has been on the rise.

Do the JDM motors have a MAF sensor (mass air flow) or a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure??) That will make a difference.

I am sure we will have a couple people in here soon that will have the right answers. Smog threads always get attention

Out of State plates FTW. I had a coworker that had Virginia plates on his beatup Cherokee with no front bumper! NEVER EVER stopped since he got here for school, and that's like 5 years ago. Cops are lazy and won't take the time to call it in to check your plates.
