awesome! Johnson, You will LOVE it!
If you think autocross is fun, the once a year PRO SOLO is (for me) THE EVENT of the year.
the added drag raciong start, the fast pace of left track, right rack, left track, right track, and the addition of truly high end cars is just a fun enviroment to be in!
at local races, usully my class is 5 drivers max. at a pro solo, my calss is 15 drivers. I love that!
Rob, figured! thats how we roll! Are you going to drive at the Pro?

Yes but they hold them the same week for the the fanaly. Pro Solo on the weekend and Solo2 National Championship Monday to Thursday.
But I was just talking about the Pro Solo Championship fanaly.
At one time, back in the mid 90's, I would run around 36 Solo events a year.
dam I'm old...lol

LOL ^^^^^
Sarah7, a Pro solo is like the autocross you already know about. but with a twist.
first, all the "big dags" come out to play, so you get a higher level of cars / drivers.
but the twist is a drag racing start. two cars line up next to each other. whent he tree turns green, both cars go. they get a 100 foot launch (or so) and then one goes left and does the left course, and one goes right and does the mirrored reverse on the other side.
they come back in and switch lanes. this is a two day event.
fastest left, and fastest right times are added up, and thats your time / score.
its freakin awesome!

Trust me I know. There is: Solo2 regional and Divisional, Solo2 National Tour, The solo2 National Championship, Pro Solo and the Pro Solo Championship.
What I was trying to tell you is, I ran all the solo2 in SoCal. All the National tours in Cal and Pro solo events in the western states for year end points. As well as the Championship.
You can amass points from 4 Pro solo’s (my mishap was at the last "championship" finally). In fact I used to help put them on. As I was one of the core CalClub members (you can look in the record books that you get when your a member and find my name). I was the reporter for the Calclub Sports car News letter.
Your right. No work on grid at Pro Solo's. But yes you can work on your car in "Pre Grid" (I was giving a short answer). You can call A "mechanical".. This gives you 15 extra min. Pro Solo moves every fast and they do not like anything holding it up.
Fun thing is. The guy that built the "cheater" (looks likes Steve O'Biss old car and if it is, I have driven it at a Solo2) Won the Nationals with it primer gray. I used to kid him I was going to come by and "rattle can" it while he was sleeping if he didn't paint it...lol.
Ok, I'm off my soap box now...
Dam young whiper snappers anyways.

I feel bad explaining myself... But my Point in the beginning was:
You do not need to worry about breaking something when running in an auto cross or solo2 or even a road race. Though you should try to prepare not to).Anybody that has done it, has had the same thing happen to them. I ran 36 events in 1 year and the 1 I break down at was the worst event to break at. "The Pro Solo2 National Championship Finally.
That’s way you'll find so many people the will help out. They have been there.
The one thing about Solo2 is, unless you’re really into it. It's not that fun to watch.
Pro Solo adds the one on one competion excitement and is much more fun to watch.
IMHO

So 1500 miles or so to break in the new seals and ill be there, if I can I will be ready for febuary, I really can't wait now!! Pro sounds super fun, do they require u have ran autox. For a certain amount of time before you can run that. It seems like it can bring the competive part out a bit more

The school was mostly on how the pre grid and grid works. It can be confusing at first. Going from one line to the next. Running the right side then going to the next side.
But once you do it a few times... it's easy.
Then after the classes have there winners. They take the top guys from each class and index the lights (like a handicap drag race). So technically both cars finish at the same time.
It’s a little more complicated then that. But that’s the basic idea.
@ MaczPayne & cone_crushr: Thanks, but it just takes time and money to run that kind of agenda. I had a lot of luck and help from guys like Tom Berry (who used to run a Rx3).
@ Sarha Yes it is.. Auto X is one of the best things you can do for your driving skills. On the street and on the track.

Oh Man.. Sorry Steve for killing your last name..
It's "O'Blenes"
Anyway, does he still own that car? I know he had traded it for a A mod car. Well it was more of a giant winged Winged go kart then a car.
But it would be cool to know if he did get it back.
That's the one thing I miss the most about not doing Solo2 any more. You meet some of the coolest people and forge friendships with people around the country.

My understanding is that he was just a hire gun (driver) for the black Lotus Exige with the monster wing. He actually sold the cheetos-FC to his buddy, but he drives it when he comes out to race.

The Berry Bunch (as I liked to call them) have always been changing cars.
I think Tom started in a X19 Fiat, then Bought Cris ***'s RX3 and Won his first championship. Sold that for a Vett that Guy Akeny put together. But I think when his oldest went from Karts to cars. The vett was a little big for her and got the Miata. Lost track after that.
I've only run a hand full of Solo events since 2000. I am Trying to get this new car I'm building ready in time so I can do the shake down at the solo2. I think it will be fun.
Looks like Solo2's have calmed down a bit. At one time all the ricky racers stated going and they had to close off entries to out siders.
It's nice to see it's opening up to newcommers again.
