Need some advice

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum, and new to the rotary community I live in San Diego California. I love the rx 7 and I'm looking for a fun, and fast car.. I found the car that I'm looking for. A '93 R1 (what does R1 mean). There is a brand new engine w/1600 miles on it. The owner put a lot of money into the engine w/receipts to back it up. The car pretty much has all the mod's I'm looking for. Should I buy this car considering I'm not going to be able to test drive the car and will have to base my decision on pictures and the guys word (seems like a cool guy)? The car is located on the east coast and I'm on the west coast.

This car will not be my daily car. Its going to be my weekend fun car! I don't really know much about building my own car and that's why I'm looking for a car that has already been modified. Thank you for any help..

Don't bother unless you're comfortable doing your own work or paying four figures at least twice a year on repairs.

If you think you're handy enough, do a lot of research on this forum before you get into buying a '93. By research, I don't mean that you should post up a bunch of questions. Do a bunch of searches, then ask the questions that you don't find answers for. btw, welcome to hell.

and before you ask:

yes, I had a '94
yes, I spent a ton of money on it
yes, it drove me to financial ruin
yes, I'd do it all over again...... if I hadn't gotten into sportbikes.

a Twin turbo rx7 is a... well it's like a woman. you can treat it good and it still asks for more money. most people do single turbo for less problems. I would explain it but there is a write up somewhere on this forums about it easily overheating compared to a single turbo. search it up.. it's late. in my honest opinion if you don't want to deal with **** and still want to try to look cool get a evo/supra or a avg joe sports car like a s2000. rx7s are not for most people, you gotta be dedicated or you might find yourself junking your car or reselling it for less then 1/2 of what you bought it for.

if your willing to learn and get your hands dirty get a rx7 if you don't have much money get a FC like all the other poor people here. I was poor when I got into it. now I'm broke. so go figure.

and again how much are you planning on paying on this RX7

I second that.

edit: unless you know the guy and watched him modify his car and know it inside out.

My friend bought a super charged S2000 and he knew nothing about cars. Ended up taking out the super charger and selling it after finding out it needed a rebuild and he had a lot of unseen bends in his chassis. now he is a idiot that wants a body kit with no engine mods.
