Well I'm putting in a haltech. I got must of it installed, but need some one with a windows 98 laptop to load the the maps to get the car to start. I have so far bought two laptops and none of them seems to work. Im in oxnard california. Well if someone has one forsale or can let me use it that would be awsome.

I think what Andy's (eo2am) trying to say is that he wants someone to help him for FREE to work on his car. I already offered to check his wiring and laptop and make the two connect for $70, but I guess that's too expensive...and I'm sure he just about passed out when Dave offered him a good price to set the whole thing up.
Good luck Andy.

Maybe your price turned him off. I work on forum members cars FOR FREE all the time. What goes around comes around. That was evident when I hurt my back and messed up my car. I had 6+ members offering FREE help, basically to do the work for me while I sit there and watch. 70 bucks seems steep to look at a haltech harness and trouble shoot the connection IMO.
Allow me to explain. I've known Andy for over 2 years. He's done business with my buddies shop, RMJ Motorsports. In person, Andy is a nice guy, but when it comes to spending money, he comes across as wanting everything for free or as cheap as he can get it. I had originally offered to install his Haltech for free, over a year ago. I was going through some rough times and could no longer fulfill my promise to install the Haltech for free. So I referred him to Dave, and Dave offered to do it for something like $800, including base tuning. Andy turned this down, because to him it was too expensive. Yet at the time, he was bragging to my friend at RMJ that he was going to buy some more FDs, fix them up and sell them. He comes across as placing no value in paying someone any kind of labor charge. He's not poor either.
I've had countless calls from him, never a "hey how are you doing?", they're always "why does my car do this, why doesn't it work". But when money is involved, he goes the other way. People like that **** me off. A very prosperous business owner once told me, "your true friends are the ones who are willing to pay you what you charge any one else. The rest aren't your friends." This couldn't be more true. Everyone wants a hand out, but no one wants to support you in your endevours.
And as for me helping people for no money, I've done it. And they're on this forum. GuitarJunkie28 can vouch for that.

I will be in town for Miguel's BBQ and would be happy to look at your setup, if the fee is reasonable to you.
I'm not trying to air any dirty laundry out on this site, but my reasons for not helping in the past have been outlined in my last post. Its not like I never helped you out, but after I got the impression that there was no comradarie, I felt used and acted appropriately. Perhaps I made an error there. But what's in the past, is in the past and I'm willing to keep it there.

Wow I just read that last post by mazpower . I never relived that I come across as a cheap sack of **** that want every thing for free. But that not true. And honasly Im not really sure what is goining on with the 3 three of us. Miguel know knows that I have spent counless hours hours setting up his drift 240's rx7's and all his other cars. So I dont help him now. it just that he has new guy to do the work and I dont have the time to stop bye. But I sound like I need to talk to miguel to see what the F**K is up and get to the bottom of this. To fall back to the part that I was just calling you to ask for help that is not really true eather. I tried calling you after you break up. I can understand that you didnt want to answer your phone that was some hard times, and of course miguel told me not to talk to you about it. So that is pretty much it.

actually, i think it was more like $4-500 or so. can't remember the exact #, but i've never charged $800 for a haltech install.
