I dont DD it. Just weekend/track.

Single turbo 15psi pump gas most of the time. I tuned it for the most part after a terrible experience with Nelson years ago. Recently I had Abel Ibarra re-tune it for a new turbo since Im just too busy. I hear good things about Daniels tuning abilities also.

One bad experience with Nelson isn't the end of the world, however.

Dan does great work and really shines as a tuner. I've worked with many tuning houses over the years for various platforms. Dans knowledge and work ethic with the rotary platform is really up there with the best in the tuning industry.

I also enjoy hanging out with Dan while he works on and tunes my FD. I learn something new every time. Dan has been reliable and does a good job of keeping you in the loop while he has your car. You also get the impression that Dan does this out of passion for our rotary platform rather than try to commercially exploit the market. I hope that more people look him up so that he can get a larger shop to hold more RX7s at the same time.

The drive from south Orange County is long, but our RX7s are special cars so in my opinion it's worth the trek for the results.

My understanding is that Dan also covers tuning for Lucky 7 now. However, I heard that you can arrange to have Nelson make a trip from Texas to tune your car if you specifically want his tuning.

this is true...lucky 7 has a dyno, so theoretically you could bring in ANYONE to tune at their shop. daniel, as far as i can tell, is easily the best local tuner around. nelson USED to work at and run rotary reliability and racing's dyno tuning in santa ana. once lucky 7 got a dyno about a year ago he started doing some tuning there as well. nelson has since moved out of the state and returns occasionally if people need/want him for a tune.

bottom line: you won't be disappointed with lucky 7 or daniel. enjoy the car!

my car is currently at Garage Life getting a rebuild and a tune. It's taken some time mainly because they are busy but Daniel keeps me informed. Can't wait till I get it back.

I'm from Northern California and I have never seen the shop or met the crew working on my car. Theres a lot of trust involved!

Whats Garage life's phone number? The number on Yelp is no longer in service. Same goes for JRX.

Lucky 7 Racing. They've done 2 motors for me and I've since referenced over 6 highly satisfied engine customers and 1 wholesale client. I've dealt with 3 local socal shops prior to Lucky 7 Racing, over the past 8 years they've earned my business for life. My latest ported engine is over 32K miles daily driven (beaten on) and she purrs like week one. Car tuned by Shawn at Church Automotive Testing (also awesome and have been doing business with for over 12 years), however I've heard great things about Garage Life's tuner. Personally switching to Flex/E85 soon.

My Lucky 7 motor will find its home in my 3rd car soon. DD, Auto X, Vegas (for Spring Mountain, then back), etc.

For some reason - keeping cars in one piece is my struggle.

I think both shops, Lucky Life and Garage 7, do excellent jobs! What I do is call each one and have them price match each other until I get a super cheap deal. I love low balling, it comes with owning a 2nd gen!

Lucky 7 has done alot of my odd ball jobs. like replacing the OMP,ECU, Belts or even battery terminals. These guys do good work and im always happy to make the 2 hour drive from san diego to get something fixed. Ive driven from SD to Duarte to get my car out of limp mode and they fixed it same day. When the problem wasnt corrected the next day? they let me bring it in next week and they fixed it same day on the spot no questions asked. I am thankful to have a local shop, and im kind of nervous that im moving to spain with my FC and no rotary shops around. After reading the thread i might hit up garage life just to mix things up and network with other shops.

Fris, willow and luis are a great team. they dropped my street ported t2 untunded (saving for ecu and ****) and that motor has been solid. (not boosting) i wish Fris would smile more though. lol

ive know DK for a while. not exclusivly but i follow his work and hes a great tuner too. he once told me he could tune my sp motor to 300hp on stock injectors! lol. but im still going to upgrade. youre in good hands either way...

oh i also heard nelson can tune from tx remotely! lol that dude is bad ***.

Hello guys, I just wanted to clarify and some info on us.
I am personally great friends with the guys at Lucky 7 Racing, in fact we also track together at Redline timeattack and Global TA. We do have a friendly competition rivalry at the races, and at the end of the day we all have dinner together
Upon customer request I do tuning on some of the cars built by lucky 7, other wise Nelson is the one tuning their cars. I rent Lucky 7 dynojet to tune our customer's cars. So far several of our customers cars hold the highest rotary HP record on their dyno. 607whp@22psi 13brew half bridge,490whp 13brew streetport, and a couple heavy hitters street cars.. I have a couple more heavy hitters coming soon for 700whp + 13b.
If Im not tuning at Lucky7s dyno its either on the 60fwy dyno, the race track,HPS racing dyno pak, CX racing mustang dyno or Dyno dynamics Dyno kings in iriwndale.

About our tuning and shop
We have a very technical and unique style of tuning. Our goal is to map your engine for most efficiency, safe reliability, torque and hp. Remeber SAFE wins races, and torque moves HP. I much rather make 500whp at 13psi than 25+psi like other tuners. Our style tuning is tuning to allow the engine to live at violent harsh motorsport grade enviroment or for the every day daily driver. We can tune Microtech efi, power fc, adaptronic, haltech, hondata, and more.
I was fortunate enough and honored to be trained by the crazyqbn who tuned the worlds record breaking fastest 13b all motor (9.24seconds 1/4 mile) from puerto rico. He is the best tuner I know in this planet for rotarys. All credit goes to him for teaching me.
We currently have several competitive competition cars from drifting, to time attack. We are passionate for motorsports. You will see us at many events on the weekends.
Several cars include
DOCMsport 86 corrolla bridgeport turbo Irish Drift Championships
TEAM WWR Pink RIbbon racing FD3s Global time attack, Redline time attack
Angry Earl FD3s drift car
