LS1 or LS6 in 93-95 RX7-CA Emissions

I'm exploring installing a LS6 (or possibly LS1) with T-56 6 speed in a 1993-1995 RX7. I spoke with a CA referre who said I would have to use the engine, transmission, harness AND fuel tank from the donor car (it seemed he was giving general guidelines rather than committing to anything).

It seems that everything will work with Hinson's parts (according to Brian Hinson) but it sounds like the fuel tank would be a problem.

Has anyone actually gotten one these swaps past CA smog? If so, I would appreciate any help you can give me as to who to see (with CA gov).

Thanks

Goto www.torquecentral.com that is the genral v8 rx7 site. You dont have to use the tank only the fuel system. Including charcol canister and all.

You need:

-Charcoal canister (EVAP Canister) from the same year/model car that the motor came from
-EVAP Purge and vent (should be on the fuel rail) sensor
-Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor from the donor car
-Fuel Tank Level Sensor from the donor car
-AIR pump
-Stock exhaust manifolds
-Y-pipe with stock cats
-Single tip exhaust
-Check engine light (MIL)
-Stock intake/K & N FIPK
-O2 Sensors
-EGR (if applicable)

You can't have your computer throwing any codes, You can't use a Fuel Pressure Regulator. I'm running a 00+ Vette fuel filter. You can still retain your stock fuel tank..

And then you need to pray that the REF has woken up on the right side of the bed, and hasn't had a fight with his wife.. the night before....

Since it's ultimately up to him and he can fail you for stupid **** like I don't know why there are two wires going into that (if he knows what the harness is upposed to look like or can see that you added a wire) or anything for that matter...

If he's not happy, you're definitely unhappy, and worse you HAVE to correct it and get it fixed, as you won't be able to smog it again without pasing, or returning everything to stock.... regardles...

This is why people say "let sleeping dogs lie..."

But if you truely want to get it CARB legal... talk to Ca. People on www.swapcartech.com or www.tourquecentral.com they'll be able to speak about their first hand experiences...

Pretty much ready.

Talked to the ref. (got to know him pretty good since my friend works at the station) and he said if I have everything I say I have (which I do), that I should be fine and just set up a date. Bad part is, he is booked for a good 3 weeks to a month. Just need a friend to look it over on HP Tuners!
