you dont need a crew to advance in drifting. seriously just go to events. most events have instructors or people who give you pointers and tips by letting you ride in their car and watch. yeah the events cost money but would you rather pay to not worry about hitting a curb or tree? if you want a fun event come down to SD for Drift Circuit 3 on march 5th. 100 dollar entry fee or 10 bucks to watch. its a fun event we just had one last friday on the 17th. stay away from teams cuz that leads to stupid street ****

RE Drifter, because I've met you and think you're a good guy, I'll be serious for a minute:

To the original poster: this is rx7club.com , not drifting.com . I've seen and heard of too many cars get ruined from inexperienced drivers trying to jump straight into drifting, so I'm not going to even come close to saying "sure kid, form a team and tear up the canyons!"

There's a lot of risk involved, so I'd recommend learning the basics. Try to get at least a year of practice on a real racetrack, learning to control your car in what you drift-lovers call 'grip' driving: trying to make the car go fast can be just as challenging and fun as trying to show off and slide around.

Then, once you've got a feel for how your car behaves at the limit, attend a Drift Day school. They aren't cheap, but they're safe and will allow you to learn quickly and efficiently. They also seem to be the ticket to bigger events: the people who started Drift Day years ago are now the people who organize the Formula Drift U.S. competition, and you can't compete in the Formula Drift without passing the Drift Day competition school. The person who did a lot of this is Moto Miwa, and his first project was www.club4ag.com . You can find more drifting info at that site.

Good luck,
-s-

I agree I'm all about going to the track. I love it, racing and drifting both. I think it's stupid to go street drifting. uh...but yeah I don't know what my point is, but I guess I just don't see nothing wrong with a team since I had a friend ask me to join one and all the guy's in Japan make teams look so common. But this is not Drifting.com but then agian why kan't somebody say something on this fourm(rx7club) without geting blasted on.

First off, before you call or contact anyone, get a LSD. No LSD, no drift.

i didn't realise so many people on here disliked drifting. Jeez. Well i wasn't thinking about street drifting anyway. I'm not out to be Fast and Furious. Like i want to put it on the track, but if you're just hating. Just don't post............... i wonder if there is a drifting.com

My GXL came with a stock LSD, but i've already gave it a tune up. New oil and a new LSD kit. So i'm good on that. I just got new tires.

S5 GXLs did not come with an LSD stock, only S4 GXLs had them. Are you sure someone put a stock LSD in your car?
Anyways, drifting will cost alot of money and unless you have cash to buy tires all the time and replace 16 year old suspension parts, I don't see the point.

Enjoy your car, but don't abuse it. You don't seem like the average RX7 guy who can do most of the mechanical work himself. Research more. Read everything in the 2nd gen FAQ. Do searches. Your car is a toy to you, but if something breaks its very expensive. But since you just want to 'drift', buy some DTSS eliminators, kyb axg shocks, rsr springs, and get real seat time. Or just buy a 240sx and get out of here. You people already ruined the 240, please don't ruin the Rx7. It will also save you alot of trouble. Good luck.

My supspension was beat when I got the kar, It's just old plus whoever wants to mod their kar will replace that anyway.
Whatever drifting is all about burning up tires duh! just buy used tires for like $20 each, and my boy has an 86 Falken gave him 50% his tires because they say how good he was and he hasn't event gotten into any events yet!

240! *** that kar 240's are wack and slow.
