I passed smog with mine legally last year with my FD. I replaced my ecu, my main cat with a aftermarket high flow, and repaired my air pump's wiring, and then I passed no problem. The most expensive part was the catalytic converter, everything else wasn't too bad. Its quite frustrating, but well worth the time and effort

Well its not really a complicating wiring. Its just a connector that goes to the ECU. The ecu controls when the air pump will turn on and off. The air pump is "ON" below 3000 RPM, and above 3000, it turns off so the car makes full power and there's no load

That's cool; too bad the SA's couldn't do that, as the 12A could really use the extra HP. They need to route the air pump output to the thermal reactor cooling jacket at higher RPMs (done by the ACV), to prevent it from melting down to a pile of slag.
