Increased RPMs when Clutch pressed in?

So umm ya. Am i just a noob? or is this how Roatrys are?

If i take my foot off the Gas. Engage the clutch it will jump 500-1krpms shifting between gears.

This is my First running Rx7. 85 12a.

Brother said it might be the momentum from the motor.

God hope im not an idiot.

When does it happen? When you are in gear does the car seem to accelerate on its own?

Yeah doesn't sound normal to me.

Might be a stupid question but are you are sure your foot is completely off the gas pedal?

i had this happen to a customer car and it was a puzzle.I was going crazy and it was just a simple thing.Check your fuel line,it can get pinched in between the clutch slave and cause it to raise the idle.Someone changed the clutch slave on this car and forgot to remove the fuel line around the slave.I moved the fuel line and everything back to normal.

Ok thank you. I dont see why the transmission shop who replaced my transmission would put a lighter fly wheel in .

A light weight flywheel won't make your car do what you described. I don't know much about 12As but I do know what is happening is not normal.

Well after playing with it some more. it has nothing to do with the clutch.

If i press the accelerator in and let off it will continue to accelerate for another 1-2sec when my foot is off the gas.

I know nothing about carburetors but my thought is the secondaries are sticking? oh i feel like a noob.

Unless you've modified the carb, the secondaries only open under subtantial load.

Dashpot could be it, if way out of adjustment; normally, it only regulates closing of the throttle for the last part of travel. it won't normally open the throttle wider. & it shouldn't be involved at all above 3500 rpm or so.

Could be a combination of weak throttle return spring/sticky cable/linkage preventing throttle return, combined with the RPMs increasing due to throttle staying constant but reduced load when you put the clutch in.
