Ok this is BS, I was reading this thread and thought those guys were full of crap. But sure enough I was rolling in Garden Grove when I got stopped by a cop and he asked me to pop my hood. I didn't want to get shot (because they will shoot you for this type of stuff) so I opened the hood and he then wrote me up for changing the color of my car. He didn't even care about the non-carb intake or the boost controller.

Trust me guys its not worth painting your car. Now my car will be down another week to get it painted to that "blue" stock color again.

I got pulled over in my red 88 for suspected window tint a couple of weeks ago. The cop had me open the door so he could check for tint with his fingernail (to see if it was actually film or not). Well...you know how on the inside front edge of the door it has that small area of black paint from the factory??, he said I changed the color of my car from black to red and starts to write a ticket for that and the tint. I told him that's how they ALL are and he got all bent out of shape saying "I wasn't born yesterday, you want me find something else to write up too?!?." I can't believe that there's some stupid law about this...even though mine was NOT painted over. Can someone help me with proof so I can fight it in court? Luckily I found this thread...

paint the whole car, and just report it to DMV what the current color on the car is. You should be okay.
