OK, well I had to leave a deposit for $400 bones but I am providing all the material, so basicaly it's labor for welding and cuttting and maybe design. So now i'm freaking out thinking ...if the deposit is $400 then what the fiddle is the bill going to be? I know I can get everything I want done, not just partial that I asked to keep the bill down for $400 in Hollywood but then I have to buy a hitch, rent a trailor and even though I can get twice the work done for $200 it will cost $250 to get it there. So now i'm thinking did he charge me that cause he needs money to pay for another project like M2 did?
So I stressin cause I haven't even got my Mazdatrix bill yet and I payd this guy in advance not knowing anything about his quality of work or even if his prices are bend over express.

He does really good quality work, he use to even make headers for racing beat, i dont know if he still does. I haven't got work from him done but my friend and a couple of other people i know have. I forgot how much he charges but he does have hourly rates, and yes he could have bend over prices.
I was down there last week getting a quote on some work to be done on my deuce. I have heard nothing but good things about his work. He is supposed to be quite the fabricator.
Good fabricators are expensive though. He charges $100 an hour.

Ok, thanks guys. I feel alot better about the quality of work but I still have sticker shock. I'm stressin' here
I better stock up on the noodles and tap water. I'll post pics when it's all done. I'm having some trick stuff done if it works out right.

Matt at Performance Solutions (the fabricator behind Mazdatrix) did some work for me. He did a nice job, and everything turned out well.
I basically turned him loose on doing my custom FMIC and radiator mounting, etc. and he did a great job of making everything fit, which I am sure was not easy. He also did my wastegate dump tube, turbo compressor 90 degree elbow, IC pipes, and made my midpipe with the metallic cat and muffler in it. It all turned out nice, and again, he made it all fit without banging around anywhere. It wasn't cheap, but he did a lot of stuff for me (all the stuff I listed, plus LOTS of this-n-that in the process), and when he was done it was done -- no need to keep fiddling with anything. Matt takes care of the details. That's nice. He's got the skills, experience, and sense to get the job done for you.
I admit I was a bit sticker-shocked after the first round of work on my car, but after I saw that he had done such a nice job on that stuff, I went back for my custom midpipe and dump tube re-route. My car was "in the queue" for a while, but he was able to get the work done by the dates we agreed to.
As a side note, I really wish I had the skills and tools to do fabrication. It must be great to be able to dream something up and then to bring it to life in metal.

I've heard nothing but good comments regarding his work, and I've seen some of it - simply amazing!
As the saying goes, You get what you pay for.
He's on my short list of people to fix my 4Runner, I know he's going to be super expensive, so I'm saving for the down and then the final payment.

Matt is great and does good work. We just had him build a custom cage in our SCCA ITS FC a few months back. The car was in and out within a week, as scheduled and promised. We did coordinate far in advance (15-20 days) with him, and verified the date and times, a few times, with him and his wife, which helps him out, and all went as planned. Like Max said, we ended up paying a little more than estimated, but the work was quality and finished within a short time frame; although we had told him we were not in a hurry.
If you really need to see samples of his work, just look at the Mazdatrix EP racers, and a few other rides there in the MT shop... quality!

I've no experience with Mazda Trix personally but if everybody is saying he is good and that he charges alot, then I think you are pretty safe.
I go through a guy for custom work in Riverside, he used to work for TRD guy is expensive but can get pretty much anything done, and I always felt it was worth the "bend over express" prices he charges.
Ask if he has financing ;P

Corner balance you should be able to do yourself with a free saturday, lift, jack stands, tape measure and alot of patience. You can drop the right/front corner 1/8" - 1/4" to compensate for driver wieght depending on spring rate (sagging when you sit in) but I did not compensate when I did mine.
For alignment recomended and/or affiliated with Racing Beat:
Accurate Alignment
971 N Batavia St # A
Orange, CA 92867
(714) 538-1916
For custom work I can personaly recomend, especially titanium:
Titanium Metallurgy
Vince Zine (Design)
(323) 653-1587
Unfortunately he only does work by referal and is allways booked but if you want titanium work, he may squeeze you in cause that's his specialty.
Remember kids, if you have to ask "how much" then do it yourself or go home.

Man I just went to his shop on Thursday to see what's up and DAMN he is expensive.
He quoted me over $3000 for mounting and doing my I/C piping, and making me a custom turbo manifold. I almost passed out. I realize he can weld but he doesn't have to rape people with those prices. That is why Rene gets my vote, I was just there on Friday and he is an awesome fabricator/welder/installer. He does it all.
P.S By the way who's RX4 wagon is that in the shop at Hills Performance?

^ I forgot who John said owns it but he must have a sponsor cause that's the second car in the shop and it was in M'Trix 7stock booth last year.
Yes, I agree, when I was asked for a $400 deposit, I assumed I was paying in full in advance! Double what you expect is sticker shock but tripple is something else. I had other stuff I was going to do, mainly restoring my A/C but I can't do any of that anymore this year.
