CA Hesitation around 3rd-4th gear

ive been hitting hesitation around 3rd-4th gear and for both around ~4k rpm. im currently running a 87TII with a bnr stage 2 turbb, 550/720 injectors, on a rtek 1.7. My friend, whom is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to rotaries said its probably because im "leaning" out, hitting "detonation." He suggested that i purchase a safc neo to regulate my fuel and said that should fix the problem. I was wondering if there is any truth behind that before I go out a spend $200-300. I was under the impression that with the rtek 1.7 I was in good hands with my setup. What do you gu8ys think?

The rtek has the fuel cut defenser built in. If you are going to spend 2-300 buy a wideband. What boost are you running?

Here's my lame suggestion, bad gas from the last fillup? Try some Chevron injector cleaner. Worth a shot for 13 bucks or so.

Are your secondary fuel injectors low impedance? Are the resistors in place?

8I have a 87tii, so yes, my secondaries are low imp. and in regards of my boost setting, i dont have any type of boost controller installed so in purely on my wastegate, and i rarely "floor" it because of this issue i have, but on those rare occasions that i do, i think im boosting at about 5.5-6lb

my friend suggested me to get a wideband + safc, he thinks its cause im leaning out when im hitting higher boost. what do you guys think?
