get yourself a pair of welding gloves and a screwdriver. stick it in the low pressure side, press the schrader valve, and bam! your A/C is good. just don't let anybody see you do it, especially those tree huggers

Hammer and a good pair of strong arms then rip it off. If you can't find a pair of strong arms check autozone they usually carry it.

Or do away with it all with a sledge hammer.

You can also do the welding gloves and a schrader valve removal tool on either the low or high side.
Just unscrew one of the schrader valves and let it vent, just try to avoid breathing it in as it's not all that great for you...

It may have a good amount of pressure behind it so when you nearly have it out it may shoot out quite fast so be careful.

And yes, don't let people see you vent it haha. I cant remember exactly for just one person if you'll get in trouble, but I know for sure that if you do it in a shop it's a hefty fine.

correct, just make sure all the R134a or R12 (if yours hasn't been retrofitted yet) has completely escaped from the system.

DO NOT LET OTHER PEOPLE SEE YOU DOING THIS

or if you have money, take it to any service station with a licensed HVAC technician

Be carefullllll

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R134 IS CARCIOGENIC (known to cause cancer). Could be a Class 1 issue.

You do not want to just vent R134 for serious health reasons. That needs to be done in a closed loop maner.

R12, not so much.

R12's not toxic (unless you're an ozone layer, supposedly), but you don't want to expose it to a flame. Converts it to an effective nerve toxin.

True, but it the fact I didn't type the "a" doesn't take the issue away from the IP.

More to the point, if you're needing to vacate a R134a AC system, you need to have it done with a closed loop machine. Any AC shop is set up to do this for you. I used Walnut Auto Air on Valley in Walnut (near Fairway)
