Help on 1980

I'm original owner of '80 RX7 which has been sitting in garage for a couple years. I can't bear to get rid of it. Mazda shop said it needed new carburetor, which I know is hard to find. Is there a Ben in Yuba City who might be able to help out? I ran into a lovely RX at gas station the other day and got the referral.

How original is it? There are a few guys here that rebuild the carbs fairly reasonable.

I(Ben) have rebuilt dozens of carbs but i am no carb specialist since they really were before my time but i do have experience rebuilding them. let me know if i can be of assistance.

most of my tuning experience is only with Edelbrock and Holley 4 barrel carbs though so if it is an aftermarket carb it may take a little while to do any major adjustments.

How original is the carb? As I said, I'm the original owner. It was replaced once, maybe 15 years ago. As I recall, there were only about 5 '80 carbs in the country at the time. Luckily, one was in Los Angeles and we got that one. Is there something strange about 1980 carbs? Some other Mazda people thought there was something missing from mine. That made little sense to me. Anyway, Karack, you sound like the one I was referred to and my last hope. Otherwise, I'll be donating this hunk of metal to the diabetes foundation, or something. I just hate to get rid of it. It was always such a nice ride. What to do? Phone is 916-332-1395. But I screen all calls. E-mail is dfgmag@aol.com. I need help.

Be careful with Karack. He called me in the middle of the night...with heavy breathing. LUckily, I subscribed to a call return feature or *69.

you almost never need a new carb. these carbs a very easy to rebuild and the kits are readily available. the kit is under $50.
