has anyone ever done this???

http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/index-1.html

One of my friends who has a 94 supra mentioned he wanted to widen his wheels.. i was like wtf how do you do that?? then he showed me this site.. I was like damn i want to do that! haha but im thinking its gonna weaken the structural integrity of the rims and not to mention make it heavy as ****... but its looks legit...

has anyone done this or seen an actual rim that has been done?

I wanted to do something like that to my BBS's... but when I inquired with people into the integrity and what I wanted to use the wheels for (Track Racing) I came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it.
One of the major concerns is that when you cast or press / forge a wheel the relative cooling happens all over the wheel. When you're welding the wheel apart, and back together again, you have to do it in a circular fashion, and cooling will be uneven. Which promotes wheel balance issues, and potential fatigue. It wasn't right for me.

^ thanks for the tip... i was think that since they are gonna cut and weld the wheel buy hand and not by machine, there would be some inconsistencies and as you mentioned balance issues

i guess im better of finding a new set of rims with the width i want

I want to put the rear lip on the front barrels and have new one made to match but 6"-8" wide... so in the end I have a 17x10 front and 17x12 rear

Have you guys seen this thread?
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=widen+wheels

He cut his wheels, added a strip to widen it, welded it back and track his car.

they are called "stretchies" and very popular for widening stock steel rims. i still have set, 2 of which have a slight leak on weld so i will take it to that place to get a new bead.
