HANG OVER RUN, January 2nd, IS ON
https://www.rx7club.com/west-rx-7-forum-193/hor-hang-over-run-877817/
Be at the parking lot where 7Stock is staged for a 9:30 departure time. But if you get there before 9 (earlier is better, a lot earlier better still), you'll be greated things such as this http://forum.carsandcoffee.info/showthread.php?t=19111.
Starting a fresh link so this doesn't get lost in the thread list. Thank you Meiogirl.

cool, what do you think about this route?
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...,0.445976&z=12
This is roughly the Miata hangover run, except they go to Temecula to eat. We could go to Oceanside and eat somewhere, depending on the amount of people we have choices. Then it should be an easy cruise back to the OC.
I am and advising everyone print out a detailed view of that Santa Margarita Groves, De Luz Heights area and there are a lot of places to turn and get lost in there!

Excellent work!!
I suggest that someone do a test drive of that route just to be sure no road issues are present. At least from the end of Ortega Hwy to Oceanside. Perhaps one or two of our Lake Elsinor rotorheads?
We have some folks with very lowered cars.......
That route would be a real challenge to dial into a GPS, a good thing as for me part of the fun is having a co-pilot (my wife in this case )to blame if you get lost. At the least, if someone feels they got lost they could dial in the intersection of what seems to be the next turn to their GPS.

looks like a good run, you could even just take the 15 down to the 76 which is a pretty good road (76 that is) its got some pretty good winds and curves in it, although it may have more traffic than the other roads.. I may be down for this, its closer than going to point loma and doing there cruise by mexico for me...

Ok, since it's been raised, would shortening the run make a difference in your participating?
For what it's worth, the H.O.R.'s of the past have been just over 3 hours from start to lunch. Actually a little longer as I recall the cruise lanching time was more like 8-8:30.

lol. it's the starting and ending point for me. I'm up in covina, so that's a lot of highway miles to be puttin' around...
either way, I am a maybe - I have some friends in town, and I might still be drunk at 9am...

If you guys prefer, we could do the Miata route and simply go from the Santa Margarita Groves into Temecula, then drive back via Ortega highway or 15 depending on your final destination. Do say something soon though. Too bad drinking causes bad driving skills or I would suggest some winery tasting.

Just a thought.
For those that for what ever reason (time or budget constraints) can't do the whole route, what you could do is the Cars n Coffee walk around then Cruise with the gang Ortega Hwy to Lake Elsinore, then simply drop off the cruise from there since we'd be right next to I15. But it looks like the real fun part of the cruise would be from Lake Elsinor to Oceanside.
Good thing Meiogirl did the route. If I did it would be much longer as for selfish reasons I'd go from Lake Elsinore to Julien for the pie. I like pie.

Ortega Hwy fire, doesn't necessarily rain on the parade
Good catch. Hadn't heard about this until you brought it up. Cut and paste below. I guess we'll have to see where this is all at the end of this week. If still an issue, perhaps we can instead go backward and initial 30 minutes from C&C be a cruise down to Oceanside then go the other way on Meiogirl's route and end the cruise with lunch someplace in Lake Elsinor.
An Ortega Highway Fire in Orange County aka the San Juan Capistrano Fire is burning. The Ortega Highway San Juan Capistrano Fire details are the following this evening.
100 acres have burned in a fire that broke out at 11:30 am today just east of Antonio Parkway. 100 firefighters responded with 100 additional later. The fire was contained to 10%, no structures damaged.
As many as four water helicopters and 2 water tankers did strike attacks Monday. The cause of the blaze is under investigation but believed to be downed power lines.

I would think Ortega would be cleared by Saturday. Its a major highway people use daily.
Hozzman's idea of having a turnaround point at Lake Elsinore is a good one, how many people would be turning back? That way you guys can organize a place to eat on the San Juan Capistrano side.
