I really feel bad for the decent folk living out on the west coast.

I have property in both Missouri and Oklahoma, spend quite a bit of time in both places, but since it's easier to tag vehicles in OK, everything I own wears OK tags. Also have an OK d/l, but I use my house in Missouri as my primary mailing address.

Anyway, no smog checks, safety inspections or any other crap. You just hand them your title, proof of insurance and a check, and they hand you a pair of tags. Your vehicle can be running or not, doesn't matter. Also no personal property taxes in OK.

By the way, that is not an invitation for you folks to move here....I'm just telling you I sympathize with you, that's all.

Come on, then, I guess one or two won't matter. Hell, I even have a spare room for you until you get on your feet. Just be warned, though....we eat meat, shoot guns, go to church (when the fit hits us), keep our word/promises, and work hard every day. I'm sure these things are all foreign to you, living where you do, but you'll have to get used to them.

bullshit. we have ways to get things but it aint gonna be posted on a public forum. secondly, it appears that you live in a boring city so you're posting here to get the west coast feeling.

It's anything but boring where I live, and I had my fill of that "west coast feeling" 20 years ago. But hey, thanks for thinking of me

this is simple. do things they way you initially planned.

IF you get pulled over in the FD, tell the cop you just had the car shipped down a few weeks prior from your parent's house and have been trying to find the time to get to the DMV. If your other car is CA registered, and you have a CA DL there is no reason for him not to believe this story.
I got pulled over for a ticket and got an additional ticket for out of state plates on my daily driver back in 2003. The out of state one was a fix it ticket. I simply had to go get it registered and pay a fee for the amount of time I said I had the car in state. I should have told them 3 weeks, but I told them it had been several months. There is no way for them to tell.

LOL i grew up in a farm town in WA state, bailing hay, kicken **** and workin as a child laborer. The definition Of "HARD WORK" Is in my bones... lol.... and i dont want to hear **** about MY screen name and what i just posted lol.

Meiogirl , The problem is with the truck having CA plates already, to register it in cali i need a cali drivers liscence. Im thinking my best bet is to have my ma register it in Cali under her name. Gift it to me, and ill take a vacation to wa to visit old freinds/ get both cars registered ect. My dad still lives in WA so I could always use that address as my residence

I understand this. When I got pulled over in my truck with Missouri plates and handed the police officer my CA driver's license, all he did was give me a fix it ticket for the out of state plate. no crushing, crunching.

All you have to tell them if you get pulled over, handing them your CA driver's license and they notice your FD has washington plates, is that you just got the car delivered to you a few weeks ago from your dad's house.

Of course at this point you have to get it registered.

It may be different in So-Cal but we've got vehicles registered in Montana in CA with no problems. I'm going to register my car in Montana in two years when smog's due. Have a front plate quiet exhaust and lay low. In Montana you only need an address and former states' title to register it. It is a bit cheaper, but you never smog in Montana. Also I never have had problems with the CA license/MT registration thing, I dunno. I hear cops in So Cal are snoopy and strict, so things may be different.
