Going Turbo Advise from NorCal guys

So as the headline says, I'm looking for advise on what way to go as far as going turbo. At first, I wasn't sure what car I wanted to stick with (my S4 or s5) and stay NA...even looked at possibly a Renises swap to stay NA, and petit racing does some engine builds that produce great power. I would have done this in my white S4 (soo clean and I love white FCs).

But I have slowly been bit by the turbo bug again, and after this weekends meet, I think I'm ready to jump right back in to a full fledge project. Sell the s4 to fund the s5.

This is we're I need advice. I thought of doing a Tll swap, but KNOW that buying from an importer I should/would still plan on doing a rebuild on the keg. Then I thought (because I saw someone selling a nice rebuilt engine on here with too much to list, but lets just say quality stuff) about buying THAT and THEN getting a harness and everything else around it to do a swap. However that can be tedious.

Maybe sell both FCs and get an actual Tll and do a rebuild on the side for when it goes....nah! My S5 interior is just sooo perfect...I just hate ever changing colors of a car unless u repaint EVERYTHING ( which Iv done but don't plan on doing for this build) and the current color is red*.

So lets say I stick with the red S5.

I found this and wondered everyone's thoughts on it?

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=44128112107

I actually searched and found a few positive things being said about the shop who did the rebuild, on this forum. So...
Only thing I noticed that got me thinking is the use of the two peace OE apex seals vs the seals being used for the engine that is being sold on the forum.(the forum engine is 2k btw)

Anyway, long story short, what do I guys think of this deal? Seems like a great deal to me for what I'm looking to do.

Any feedback would bee appreciated or stories/experiences with ether swaps or this company in particular.

*Red is my least fav color and tends to get neg attention.

FD engine, T2 transmission. Thats the way I'd do it.

If you are going to do the swap. I'd put the extra efffort to swap an FD engine into the car. You just need the mounts fabricated. The T2 transmission is stronger than the FD. But I'm sure the FD transmission wouldn't be bad.

If you stick with the stock twins at first you will be way ahead of the game. Upgrade them and other T2s will be hard pressed to match you.

Thanks for the response and the insight!

Obviously after I posted that I continued to do more reading. I do understand that the Tll tranny is much stronger and was ultimately looking into doing a S5 Tll engines swap simply to make it easy. Similar to the one I posted.

However if I could find an FD motor swap at the right price, it seems like the way to go. I would almost immediately want to go single turbo though. But all the builds that I see for an FD swap/FD original make the power I'm looking for with simple set ups.

Nothing wrong with red!

I have not had any business dealings with Rotary resurrection but they've been around a long time and most of their work has been good from my limited knowledge. That being said, they are not on this forum, probably due in part to this thread -> https://www.rx7club.com/bad-fugly-bu...ection-937924/ You can decide for yourself.

Regarding the apex seals, I don't see much difference in performance. Only cases are if you are planning on high hp or really high mileage out of it.

As for turbo swap, depends on what kind of power you are looking for.
FD engine is better, but overkill unless you're going for 500 hp and the early irons start breaking. The mounting of the engine is the most irrirating part as there aren't tried and tested methods. Then all the custom intake piping, exhaust and electronics all add up in time and money.

I'd stick with the fc engineThe torque delivery of the stock fc turbo is a bit weak IMO, but mild hybrids do wonders for that and require simpler supporting mods.

Or like you said, buy a turbo that is already 90% of the way there.

Or, it could just be because the forum ownership banned him 4 years ago.

Good luck finding S5 T2 parts. You are going to need it. You will need a complete powertrain swap. Magus2222 still has the T2 trans, diff, driveshaft and axles. Engine bay you will need the engine long block with afm, boost sensorecu(which is hard to find), engine harness. Everything should be included in the long block. S5 T2 USDM engines are hard to find. JDM ones are dime a dozen.

Or you can be diffrent and boost the N/A motor. Theres a few people on here who have crazy fast and reliable cars 6 port turbo.

I personally have a challenge to my self to break 300whp on a 6 port stock port running a divided T70 and e85. It s all possible if you got the muuuuulllllaaaaaa!

You have three options-
1- go all t2 from the get go
2- pay twice the amount and headache gathering parts to then have a electrical gremlin mess on N/A
3-buy someone else hard earned project and make it your own

ultimatly the cost to effectivness ratio you will end up better off buying someones project or boosting the N/A motor properly

and for the NOOBS that are like "nooooooo not on a N/A motor ahhh ahhh"

Haha. You seem a bit unwarrantedly self-defensive over your opinion. I'm sure it's not only possible but has shown good results for people as well.
Not interested though.

Thanks for ur compelling "argument" and link though. =P

you are right thats my opinion i was suggesting.

BUT........ i been around these forums a while. I will personally tell from my experience( about 1 FC or FD every month because I buy just about everyones cars here. Half built cars will turn into wasted money. Half assed swaps will turn into cars that never run. Last but not least the hopes of properly building a Turbo FC without proper mods will turn into a hot mess of destroyed parts and eventually a PART OUT.

Since you are new to the forum i will kindly explain to you to go all out and buy a TURBO 2 BY VIN.

You have three options-

No argument just friendly Moderator Love
