My car made about 300 whp stock FD turbos (non-seq, etc.) and I got it smogged LEGIT. Ran low 13 @ 108-112+ mph multiple times too. It can be done but it's a PITA. I actually spent about 2-3 months just getting my smog crap squared away. If you know what you're doing and the car runs well you shouldn't have problems.

i've built a few ~300WHP FDs that passed just fine but they still aren't 100% legal because the EMS is illegal regardless if everything else isn't.

but a little known thing for californians, more than half of the state has smog exempt counties. but i believe that you can no longer use a PO box for registration.

It's not a PO Box number, it's an apartment number.

Agreed.

Does anyone remember the Larry H. Parker commercials with their one client who had the biggest payout saying "Larry Parker got me 2.1 Million dollars"?

Now we could say "Wackyrice got me, a hassle free smog certificate".

Don't know a single person that would even consider giving up on their car over smog. If i did I would call them a *****. Don't drive like a idiot and don't have a loud fart can and you wont get pulled over.

That would make you the biggest ***** since you don't own a car that was built remotely close within this century. However, you are about two centuries old.

Right, those cars were produced in 1878 right? That year was the inception of the rotary engine with only one rotor. The engine size was a 6B.

I dont think they are actually smog exempt, they just dont have the bi annual testing. Im from Humboldt county and up there you have to smog on title transfer and then you are done for as long as you own the car. But technically I think you can still get a ref ticket and be held to the same standards as the rest of the state. From my understanding the idea is to not require residents of the more rural areas to travel great distance for a check, but its up to the officers discretion if he sees a smoking car or suspects illegal parts to write a smog ticket.

in 07 I did give it up.. got rid of my sr20 modded 240sx for a benz.... benz was cool but i missed tweaking and modifying... You will always get that craving , especially if you still hang around people that still do it.

I cant justify having a registered non-operation /track only car, I enjoy driving my car on the street, going to car meets, dates, cruising etc..

Tell the smog ref or CHP that your car is a Specially Constructed Vehicle (SPCNS) and get a Certificate of Sequence (smog exempt)
