Enforcement Guidelines

The only drivers who should be cited are those whose vehicles:

1. are not equipped with a muffler
2. clearly emit an offensive, harsh, excessive noise, or;
3. have a clearly defective exhaust system (holes, leaks, etc)

Certainly seems like #2 is way overlooked and abused by most LAPD/CHP now a days, regardless of the dB levels.

#2 is on the police officer judgement, if it looks big it must sounds loud.

Pretty much. I had a lot of fun with dual apexi N1's unsilenced on my NA 13B 6 port motor with road race headers. 6 fix it tickets in 1 month. Not to mention, one officer said he literally heard me coming a quarter mile away.

I had that too but i had an hks hi-power silent on my wrx. The main reason for him to pull me over was license plate light. Then he saw my exhaust and gave me a fix it...

I have Apexi duel N1s with headers and i got pulled over yesterday for expired tags but they didn't say anything about my exhaust.

But just in case do you guys think the silencer Apexi offer makes a noticeable difference in sound?

I'm sure they look less noticeable on an FD compared to an FB..

I did however purchase 2x Apexi silencers for the N1's at the Apexi garage sale years back and they do make somewhat of a difference.

Either or works great, if it's built properly. I've used silencers.. resonators.. just get something good and it will do it's job.

it also says that chp has no way to test the db levels..... lameeee. that's why they always pull anybody over with a somewhat modified exhaust and pop the hoods in order to find an intake or illegal engine (usually in the hondas). i got this from a cop who is in the Dragnet program.... i get pulled over enough so i just talk to them and find out what's up

he said he doesn't touch cars without loud exhausts or bov's, and datsuns

To all above, except Poo , you're welcome. It's always good to get a peek into the enemies playbook.

Side note, you can buy an inexpensive db meter at radio shack.
