California + driver = most unfriendly
Man i just got a notice from the DMV, changing my provisional license and extending, n that bs!
i cant drive passenger unless the passenger is 20+
i cant drive by myself anymore
extended the provisional to 1 year instead of the 6month restriction thing
cant drive past 11, - that im not really tripping off of cuz i dont go out that late.
juss 6 more month till 18!!!!
edit: addition
first cali is emission not friendly
2nd tune car unfriendly
3rd import really friendly
IF ur young + oldcar + it fast + is japanese = very unfriendly!

California is a very emissions friendly state, I live in LA and I like to be able to breath.
Maybe they extended your provisional license becuase they heard that you cannot make complete sentences?

Wish that was so true....

Damnit! I just got the letter too.
Basically instead of having to wait only 6 months for a new driver to be able to drive others around it's now a year. And the new curfew is from 11PM to 5AM as apposed to 12 midnight to 5AM. This new law affects every provisional driver issued a drivers license since Jan 1, 2005.

Man it's times like this that I am glad I am an old man (haha, j/k) - Yeah I heard about these new driving laws... they are sweeping the U.S. - leave it to California to ruin the lives of youngsters first, haha. I'm nearly 23 and I've been driving since 16.... I still don't think I am experienced enough to deal with some of the dipshits in socal, lol.... maybe by the time I'm 40 I'll figure it out.
Just be glad you've got a nice car at such a young age. I started with a 80hp carburated Honda Accord.
I think we should put limits on senior drivers also: if the youngsters can't be on the road at night, we should keep the old and timid off the roads during rush hour.

My first car was a 100hp corolla now is my cousin (older person get to drive but person who got more exp dont get to drive.... eh??), then i have to buy my own car, which is now my TII. + i could have got my license earlier around late 04 but did not cuz of my procrastination. I got my license just before a week my permit expire. If i got my license back then i would be driving a:
A. a BMW 525i - some old one cuz my mom's friend were bout to sell it to me
B. Impreza WRX- I was in need of a car + it was sedan and my mom would have help me out
C. 240sx - because of the price before the whole drifting craze that drive up the price
Now i have TII n i am happy wit it.
This mean i dont hav a camera person in my car for the next RX-7 nor - cal meet.

Reducing emissions is all good and dandy, but it's silly when people have to jump through hoops like CARB certification. Who cares about what mods you have as long as you are under the limit of legal emissions.
@ "stupid kids cant drive blah blah blah you do dumb **** in your cars"dont let it get to you man, their just jealous you have a car just as nice as theirs at a young age

it could be alot worse for you though, they could just bump up the age to 18 to get a license instead of 16

!! i just got my license also back in may, barely turn 18 in november, good thing i don't have to go through that though! that sucks you're taking it in the butt by our governator
on a good note i heard that they are reducing the years of when a car "is old enough" and doesn't need to smog, from 25 to like 18 or something, im not sure though, i'll look into it a bit more.
