california deliver/drop off this week
about mid week, probably mid day to wednesday evening i will be passing through the north edge of southern cali on my way to the SF bay to deliver a car. if anyone has an engine or car they need a rebuild on or other services i don't have a car scheduled for the return trip so i will have space for a car or multiple engines to overhaul.
even though i have no car scheduled for pickup i still do ask for the $250 to help pay for the gas and trailer on each leg of the trip($500 total to pick up and drop off a full rolling car, assuming i have one for each leg. each full trip costs me $400-450) or simple gas costs to pick up engines that are out of the way of my actual route to and from the destination(las vegas to san bruno up highway 99). so say if you are in sacramento and just have an engine to pick up it would be about $30 for fuel to pick it up and i can schedule to drop it off when i am delivering a vehicle again or ship it to a business address near you or depot in the closest large city(there is a depot in sacremento for this example near the arco arena) for approximately $90 for shipping and $50 for crating the engine. so basic engine rebuilds are cheaper to deliver unless you are in a tight timeframe to deliver the engine back to you which would require air freight and crating to be added on(~$140 to get it back to you sooner). generally i deliver and pickup about once a month but sometimes up to 2 months or so depending on work load and delivery/pickup scheduling.
so if anyone wants a quote before i go out you can PM me for an estimate or see my engine rebuild pricing thread here:
https://www.rx7club.com/vendor-classifieds-276/engine-rebuild-pricing-936215/
keep in mind i have raised my labor rates 15% on labor(not parts) and i have yet to adjust the pricing tables so the figures will be slightly higher.

Ben, do you do tuning for PFCs? For some reason I thought I heard that you were the man for that too.
If so, I'd be stoked to set something up with ya while your in the SF Bay area

i do, i'm not sure if i'll have time to do it on this trip but nick(smogsux) is going to be setting up another tuning session in about a month or so, after he fixes his weak fuel pump pressure issue.
too bad you missed the other session, we just did one in san rafeal on jan 22-23rd. still have the FD and my motor?

pricing will be fairly similar but i'm going to have to be a little less leanient about fixing issues while on the dyno, it was taking a bit too long to sort out some things that i will work around better in the future. no blown motors, all in all it went ok though a couple cars still have issues to work out(smogsux with the fuel pump and 088 with an airflow issue lowering peak horsepower).

I'll do a full 60k service on the car before we put it on the dyno. I guess the ultimate would be for you to maybe have a look at it the day before or something, but you're a busy man and I understand that. If you do happen to have a couple hours within a week or so of the day of your next tuning session...

.and I'll definitely be in contact with smogsux.

The motor is still purring like a kitten. Even more so since I installed the PFC.
