to the best of my training, they told us that it doesnt go against the owners. they are trying to cite the smog techs that are doing clean piping. i think its up to the head tech at the checkpoint as to whether or not cite the owner and/or tow the vehicle. i havent heard of this happening, but im in norcal, we dont have this quite yet.

dont believe that they will only cite the smog tech. sooner or later, they will go down the chain and it will catch on.

"Roadside Inspection--Smog Control Stickers

2814. Every driver of a passenger vehicle shall stop and submit the vehicle to an inspection of the mechanical condition and equipment of the vehicle at any location where members of the California Highway Patrol are conducting tests and inspections of passenger vehicles and when signs are displayed requiring such stop.

The Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol may make and enforce regulations with respect to the issuance of stickers or other devices to be displayed upon passenger vehicles as evidence that the vehicles have been inspected and have been found to be in safe mechanical condition and equipped as required by this code and equipped with certified motor vehicle pollution control devices as required by Part 5 (commencing with Section 43000) of Division 26 of the Health and Safety Code which are correctly installed and in operating condition. Any sticker so issued shall be placed on the windshield within a seven-inch square as provided in Section 26708.

If, upon such an inspection of a passenger vehicle, it is found to be in unsafe mechanical condition or not equipped as required by this code and the provisions of Part 5 (commencing with Section 43000) of Division 26 of the Health and Safety Code, the provisions of Article 2 (commencing with Section 40150) of Chapter 1 of Division 17 of this code, shall apply.

The provisions of this section relating to motor vehicle pollution control devices apply to vehicles of the United States or its agencies, to the extent authorized by federal law.

Crap, that's only a mile from my pad. I guess the good thing here is that something like this they can't do on a street as busy as Beach Blvd so stay on the busy streets. Run with the pack/herd, safety in numbers...or go old school like that lakay, Mel.

future CA law:

if any regularly employed and salaried police officer or deputy sheriff pass by your house and believe that any of your vehicles is not equipped as required or is in any unsafe condition as to endanger any person, may require to knock on your door, or wake you up in the middle of the night, asking you to submit of vehicles to an inspection and those tests, and/or perform onsite smog test if needed.

Id rather they stop every car on the road to check valid drivers license and insured/registered vehicle.. im scared more than half the people in my dam area are probably illegally driving. lol

They could make more money that way, ticket all those *******, and make this a safer place lol

also more DUI check points, im all for responsible drinking, but more and more young people get shitfaced for the sake of it being the cool thing to do. Ive almost near lost a few friends from being struck by drunk drivers.

I'd vote Hypertek for governor. Its this kind of thinking that we need more of in Sacramento.

Future CA law:

All persons shall surrender their full rights to peace officers or government employed personnel. The use of the word "privacy" has been outlawed since the day the original Constitution was accidentally set ablaze by our respected governmental reformers.

One day we'll long for the good ole' days when such petty matters were overlooked in favor of the national budget, the debt of the state of California, etc.

Also it still looks like the way to go is all wheel drive. That way you don't have to get on the dyno and pass the 15 and 25 mph rolls.
