1st. Gen reliable mechanics?
Hi. A friend has a 1st. Gen (85 I think, although I haven't had a chance to see it. He says it has an original 13b, carb version w/5 spd.) He overheated it (low coolant in Vegas in the summer will do that very quickly!) and he says it's fried for sure. His mechanical knowledge is very limited.
He needs to find a decent (and hopefully reasonable) mechanic who knows how to do a rotary engine swap in the Las Vegas area. (or in L.A. at the furthest.) He can get a used engine. I've suggested a few of the motor importers to him, although most seem to have only Turbo engines right now. Some come with the intercooler, computer and uncut wiring harness so he could put in a newer turbo engine (with probably a turbo radiator) if he can't find a year specific engine. He needs someone knowledgeable who has the tools and can do the labor. If that person also has access to a used long block, all of his existing accessories are still good and can be used.
My house burned down and I lost most of my tools in the attached garage. Once we get rebuilt and I replace my tools, I can do the swap for him, but that is a long way down the road.
Thanx
