1987 RX-7 Turbo II Oil Change ?

1987 RX-7 Turbo II Oil Change ?

Whats this is my first Rotary Engine Car...I need some help. I just bought a 1987 RX-7 Turbo II Great condition and only 60.6k mile on it. Its completely bone stock and I want to give it an oil change but i dont want to take it to a mechanic for an oil change...I want to do it myself but i never have done it...does any think they can give me some pointers or help me out...Im located in San Diego in Sera Mesa Military base housing. its really easy. you unbolt the drain plug and the oil drains out. then replace the drain plug and refill

the oil filter is pretty east to find. When facing the car from the front, it's on the right of the motor. Good luck.

Also, replace the drain plug crush washer every time/every other time you change the oil. Its dirt cheap, and those things aren't meant to last forever. You'll want to make sure your using a decent grade of oil, and don't use any synthetics unless they are rotary specific (Idemitsu or Royal Purple). Other than that, there's not much to say. Have fun, I'm sure you will love working on your new car.

oh yea, it should take about 5 quarts of oil, DO NOT USE LIKE 8 QUARTS, right dave

yea, don't put 11 quarts of oil in your rx8 or i'll charge you a lot of money.

autobone oil for commuting and gp driving, amsoil, mobil 1, or torco for hard driving.

I've heard that any synthetic should work, but I'm a big Royal Purple fan, so that's what I currently use. If you don't want to go sythetic, use Valvoline VR-1 racing oil. That's what I used in the FD.
