Where do I go on running problem.

Guys, a while back my formerlt running LS-1 RX had the ECU fry from a bad electric speedo. I've replaced the ecu and cleaned the wiring up as it was wired bad as a rotary car when I bought it and the wiring from the person I paid to do the swap wasn't very good either.
Anyway, it's "fixed" and doesnt run except when I put starting fluid in it and even then won't do more than the occasional fire or two. I don't expect anyone to have a magic cure all but I'm hoping for a general direction to go from here.
What happens when an 01 ecu is put into an 02 car?

OK, This is why I usually take 24 hrs before posting on problems, I didn't this time. The fuel pump isn't running except for the start position and It "could be" bad gas. Since it won't start, I don't think it's the fuel pump as it should start and then die as the start switch is released. I'm gonna try the old ECU as it would still run on four cylinders and then swap out the gas for new and we'll see what happens then.
If anyone has tried an '01 ecu on an '02 car please tell me how it worked. My "good" ecu came out of an '01 car but was supposed to be reprogrammed for an '02.

01 and 02 PCM are compatible.

The fuel pump should prime for 2 seconds with key on, and then stay running during cranking.

I've done some more testing and it does run although badly on starting fluid. I am getting NO fuel from the injectors at any time. Is there a "fuel injector enable" circuit? I know that injectors are individually fired but with them all not working, i'm hoping that there is one a single thing going on. I believe that the injectors are always 12 volts and the ECU enables ground to fire them, is this ture? As always any help is appreciated.

That is correct. Do you have +12 at the injectors with the ignition on?

Thats a good thing to check also since it runs with starting fluid something is telling the ignition system to get to work. I would say the crank sensor is doing its job. Can these / this conversion be scanned ? is the system viewable ? A test light and a noid would be a good idea as well. I assuming you can here the FP running ? but that wont help ya much given what you have here. If the FP cycles up and off in the two second sequence thats another plus for the engine computer.

I think he resolved this issue, but to answer your question, yes, these swaps can be treated just like a stock GM vehicle, engine wise. All scanners/testing is the same.

Thats always nice to be able to look into the EFI. I did that for many years, but there were times in the early days when the first computers began controlling things you couldn't and that was surely interesting. Thanks for the response BTW this forum is great !
