Question T5 to fb rx7 driveshaft question

Hello,
I have never done this swap but am looking into the main parts I would need. I am on a pretty tight budget. I saw that the grannysspeedshop.com kit for the ford 302 is very well priced. If I get the basic kit W/O driveshaft will I need to cut or make an adapter for the stock driveshaft so that it fits with the t5? If so, how would one go about doing this?

Thanks,
Evan

You will need to put a T5 slip yoke on the front of the driveshaft. I bought a used grannys shaft off of my friend and it ended up needing a new slip yoke. I found a local shop to put a new one on and shorten the shaft for $140. You probably could find a shop near you to do the same.

There is no adapter plate that could be made for the T5 to mazda transmission since it is a slip yoke style attachment

get the old T5 shaft and the Old FB shaft.
Use the T5 yoke and the FB diff shaft flange.
measure the distance from trans to diff flange and get a drive shaft shop to make you one.

I wouldn't recommend the granny's drive shaft anyway. I bought it for my swap and found to my chagrin that they didn't balance the shaft. It was 1/4" too long too boot. So i had to take it to a driveline shop and get it modified anyway. I got it to work but it probably was quite a bit more expensive than what is being recommended above. Just buy the T5 one and mod it.
