quick question....quick answer!

I know It's probably been asked a million times, but all the LS1 threads are like a billion pages long, and frankly I have better things to do with my time than to sit here all day and read through them when I can just ask a simple question in a new thread. So with that said: How much are we talking, when considering an LS1 swap in an fd? Mines a 93 if that makes any difference. Thanx

It all depends on what deal you find and what kit you use. your mounting kit accessories can range from $1,400-$3,000. with your cooling, it can range anywhere from $6,000-$8,000 (mounting kit, cooling system and intake system).

then comes your engine. it depends what year/mileage it is/has. THAT can range you from $3,500-$6,000 (again, depending on the deals)

then your fuel system. fuel pressure regulator $120-$150, fuel rail clip $35, fuel line couplers $13-$19 each.

last but not least, if you are able to do all the work yourself. that can save you a couple of hundred, if not thousands.

keep in mind, this swap is very time consuming and will burn a hole in your pocket, but in the end it'll all be worth it.

so you're probably looking at around $13,000-$15,000, that's just my opinion on based information i've gathered while following along other peoples' build.

my LS1 FD swap is staying under $10,000 ($9,6XX.XX), that's including the car

anyway, if you do decide to swap, GOODLUCK!

There's probably an average of about $21k including the car, and it will drop with every unnecessary rotary part you can sell.

Sounds about right. I've done a little research in what spear time I've had today. Not too bad of a price considering what you're getting out of it. Thanks guys

I'm looking into an LS1 swap and was wondering if there was a typo in the estimate for the cooling system.....$6000-$8000 sounds very high for a radiator, fan and some hoses/clamps. HSC has their cooling kit listed for less than $650.
My initial estimates are:
$4500 for LS1/T56
$3746 for every LS1 kit HSC sells(might not need them all, but this gives the high end)
$500 for misc items
So I'm guessing ~$8000-9000 for LS1/T56 swap not including the car.
Sound about right?

i just checked the hinson page and man have those prices dropped. i guess the competition has stepped it up since when i started putting my swap stuff together. those prices got ridiculously low.

but the engine price especially with a T56 are sky rocketing up by the second. right now, you'd be lucky to find a decent LS1/T56 for 4,500. but just look out for those deals

Please forgive me, since I'm not too much in the know about Chevy engines. But what is the major difference between the LS1 from a corvette, and the LS1 from the camaro's? They are both 5.7L V8's. Is it mainly internals?

The accessories (alternator, power steering, A/C) are mounted different between Camaro and Corvette LS1s. Internals are the same.

The LS6 has different heads, intake, cam, and valley cover then the LS1, engine internals are basically the same (it does have coated pistons in most years I believe).

www.contemporarycorvette.com

They trade as fparts on eBay. Always decent deals and they offer a warranty.

What digitalsolo said but in addition, the Vette motor is drive-by-wire. You'd need to swap to an F-body throttle body unless you want to sort out that system and make it work. I'm sure it could be done, but I don't see the effort being worth it. Much simpler/cheaper to change the throttle body and use a cable.
