Gee, I paid $1200 for an LT1 with a T56. I did have to replace the broken bellhousing (ham fisted removal) and damper (crash damage), but those only cost about $200

Glad you feel like you got a good deal, I'm happy for you ;o) You do realize that the LT T56 is a different trans which is less expensive to come by?

A rebuild kit can be had for about 150 dollars on ebay and steel forks are about 50 bucks if you want to upgrade. 1300 is the going price for a LS Tremec T56 but I am entertaining offers.

They are the same trans. Different bellhousing.

1200 for an LT1 AND a T56 is a great price. 1200 usually only gets you an LT1.

they are the same internally but an LT1 T56 will NOT work with an LS1/6 powerplant because the front cover, hydraulic system and input shaft are different.

thanks for the input.

Sale closed, I decided not to pick up the tranny.

It's usually a good idea to own the trans BEFORE you sell one...

If you have something to say you can PM me and I'll give you my phone number.

I would under NO CIRCUMSTANCES accept any form of payment without the unit in hand. Unlike some pieces of **** on the forum I value integrity and honesty above money.
