My FC3S is.

in the hands of my most trusted mechanical force...Specialty foreign auto..they are going to spend the time that I do not have to tell me if I need a new rotary set-up or not.

If I need a new set-up....I am seriously considering a small block 350. I love the rotary to the grave and ****, but I am really a power man and I cant beat an easy 12 second car.

My question, what is your guys opinion on this swap? is there a conversion section of the forum? is it extremely hard and expensive?

There's a sub-forum devoted to engine swaps.

https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine-conversions-non-v-8-118/

IMO you should buy another car instead.

If you ask here we'll say don't do it, if you ask in the v-8 section they'll say do it. In the end its up to you, not anyone else. If you want to put in a V-8, then go for it. Its your car, do what you want, not what everyone else wants.

I love the rotary and it has many advantages so my choice would be to keep it but like Sideways7 said, it's all up to you. As long has my car is like I appreciate it then I'm happy.

What I'm about to say, I have learned from first hand experience. I don't want to hear you high schoolers chime in about how the swap loses the 50/50 weight ratio, or anything along those lines, because that is a complete lie.

What are the realistic advantages? Less power so you dont wear your tires as fast? Having a rare engine that most people don't know how to work on, so when you break down you have to search the forums everytime to fix your problems?

The "concept" of the rotary has many advantages, but in real life, it has a LOAD of DISadvantages.

Sure the turbo motor has the advantage of upgrading the turbo. A v8 can be turboed as well.

Swap the v8 into it. Trust me, it'll be well worth it. More common, everyone and their uncle can work on it, more power, and better gas mileage if set up right

Don't be silly. Go and get an RE motor and big asprine Turbo. There's nothing I love more than kicking the snot out of a big V8 and then explaining how my motor is only 1.3liters. They look thouroghly confused everytime!

Do you know how much that engine and turbo setup would be?

For what it would cost to build a 1000hp import motor, you can build a domestic motor that has 1400hp. It's as simple as that.

The guy is talking about doing a budgeted swap. This has nothing to do with RE motor and single turbo kits. Stop being a rotard.

When I make legit points about reliability, ease of working on, and power levels, all you rotary boys jump on the rotard train and start talking about Ameniya JDM 20b GT42r swaps and such. Get real. The guy is talking about swapping a 350 into his engine bay, not making an all out drag car.

GTFO and go buy a camaro, we are rx-7 enthusiasts, which means, 99% of us like the engine we already have. I personally don't care what your fuel mileage is, or how easy it is for you to make power, or how we don't have any torque, or how you have to rebuild all the time, or there is no mechanics for our cars, how our engines are thermally inefficient, how we have alot of electrical problems, and all of that bullshit. Go make a V8Rx7club.com or something, we like RX-7s and rotaries here, and i know i don't speak for the whole board, but my opinion on this thread is. Oh, and I definately don't care how much rotaries cost.

1) Buy another car if you have to ask, if you don't tune your rebuilt engine properly like a retard and blow it up, we don't want you getting pissed off and ruining another one of our cars
2)Everyone likes their own thing, if you like V8s, get another car
3)This thing has been beaten enough already, and this thread should either be locked or moved to the lounge as it is practically a joke.

And until you stop being so ****, you are one of the reasons why this great debate keeps alive. I've got a Vr-4, but I don't get upset when a guy on the 3si.org boards swaps in a 4.9l billet stroker motor, or a 3.7l motor. Big freaking deal. I am an enthusiast of both Rx-7s and 3000GT's, but you don't see me crying when someone does something different.

Ease up there buddy. Only reason people swap motors into the Rx-7 is because usually there is a gain to doing it. You don't see many swap kits for Supras, Skylines, 350Z's, Vr-4s etc. The platform has potential, don't be so **** when someone wants to put money into his car to enhance it. He's not hurting its feelings

Yeah it's ok, I know all rotaries are slow and can't beat anything, a real useless platform, right. I mean, it's not like they won a **** load of races back in the day before there were large restrictions put on it or anything.

I don't see why people don't swap VR-4s though, i mean, I would get pissed off if my car was made by mitsubishi and broke drivetrain components all of the time, which of course, i know, your car doesn't, but half the other ones out there do, just because the owners are stupid right, just like how theres a recall on all eclipse transfer cases.

I mean seriously, how hard is it to make decent transmissions, i mean, people make 500hp on RX-7 trannies with no issues unless it's high mileage for the most part.

Did I say they were slow?

Stop referring to back in the day. We are talking about cars that drive on US roads. If you want to talk about the beloved 787B, then go rant in the race section.

What other excuse are you going to throw out? And Please, STAY ON TOPIC.

Umm the fastest 3000GT in the world has an OE drivetrain. In fact all 3000GT VR-4s do, because there are no aftermarket drivetrains.

I'd like to see a full weight Rx-7 make consistent 9 second passes on a single OE drivetrain.

By the way, after 172k miles, my 1st and 2nd synchros in my 5 spd tranny were shot. So I spent 215 dollars and replaced them myself. I guess my tranny is crap because after 15 years something wore down in it?

If you want to chit chat about off topic stuff, then PM me.

Otherwise I will be ignoring you from now on, and STAYING ON TOPIC

Once, I saw a orange cat named nibbles. It was a semi fat cat, but we loved it anyways.

Wow, rotary fanboys on rx-7 club, THATS ******* CRAZY MAN

You wouldn't get flames if you actually put it in the V8 RX-7 section so people that don't go in that section(Me), won't see it and go crazy.

So just ask a mod to move it.

Oh and just by the way, j rat is makinf 10 second passes now on his stock drivetrain, don't know anyone personally who doesn't but i'm sure they do.

And like a said, just because you don't have problems, doesn't mean that half the other people with mitsubishi dont.

Then again most of those people don't give up, like people do with rotary engines, since you need to the the tranny for the almighty 4g63, but with rx-7s it's just...

I really DONT understand why people don't start with a mustang camaro or corvette in the first place. If you want something with a V8 that doesn't handle like ****, build a lotus replica with an LS1.

Um and how much is a corvette again?
Riiiiiiiiiight. I could build 3 TII small block chevy swaps for the cost of a good condition late 80s early 90s corvette. And each one would be able to smoke the vette, and have the looks to match.

What does the 4G63 have to do with anything? I have a twin turbo V6.
Did I ever say I like eclipses? You are the one talking about eclipses earlier - I have no reason why.

Mustangs and camaros are cheaper, and a lotus replica can be incredibly inexpensive.

The 4G63 comment wasn't directed towards you, i'm just saying that about mitsubishi, i just generally don't like anything they make.

And honestly, with a rebuilt ported engine and a bnr stage 2 or 3 you could (probably) run 12s and i wouldn't cost that much at all.
