Like I said before..it looks alot lower than it is. You can barely see it when standing up. Hell the rear end assembly sits a little lower. I have the camera on the ground when I took that pic. Heres me standing up about 6 feet behind it.
Oh also, (you cant tell in the pic) The line actually sits behind and higher than the tank. So in order for the line to be ripped out of the car id have to hit something that would destroy the tank too.

The line is clearly lower than the rear valance, another car rear ending your car would pretty much hit that line. I've seen a lot of FDs with dented/squished tanks.
Even if you slid and hit a curb sideways the wheel would fold and the bottom of the car would hit the ground. When steel scrapes on the pavement it sparks, sparks and fuel aren't such a good thing.
We aren't telling you this for our safety. Hopefully at least other people reading this will see the serious safety issue if you don't.

Exactly. I was envisioning a rear impact as well. The fuel line isn't well protected by the rear valence at all.

My only option at this point would be to cover it with a piece of sheet metal. Theres really nowhere else for it to go. And Ive seen dozens of street rod cars like this and theyve never had a problem.The ONLY thing im really concerned with is the sump hitting something while backing up, like a curb or something. My only other option would be to junk the 1500$ setup and go back to the stock setup. One other option would be to try to move the pump up a little higher and hoping I don't have fuel issues. Anyone have any other suggestions that wont cost me anymore money? Also theres really not alot of room back there which sucks. My trans am's sump setup was the exact same way and I never had a problem.

Does your Trans Am sit as low to the ground as your FD? I could see a set-up like that working on muscle cars as they tend to have higher ride heights.
What are others doing in their LS* swaps? Keeping the stock set-up, using the RX-8's (not sure if its compatible), or something custom like what you opted for?

just dont drive in reverse any faster than say 85mph... haha how the heck else have people been sumping tanks?? i look at it and think you did all you could... turned it up with a 90 or 45 bend... looks good to me!

Ding! Exactly. A rear impact can be anything from a rear-end collision to backing-up onto a low curb.
Does your Trans Am sit as low to the ground as your FD? I could see a set-up like that working on muscle cars as they tend to have higher ride heights.

And I understand what you mean by getting rear ended but if you think about it, I didnt move the tank closer to the bumper(its already touching it) so if I were to get into a bad enough accident the tank would be smashed reguardless. And it isn't a daily driver, plus im extremely careful when backing up anyways, and besides the unlikely event that I get rear ended(Id be screwed anyways) my only real danger is backing into a curb. I honestly do appreciate the concern and im not arguing,but people have been doing this for years with no problems.

Yeah it def. isn't. Reliability wise it is, I could drive it every day if I wanted to..but its mainly going to be driven on the weekends at night and to and from the track. I want to be able to drive 2 hours to the track, go 9's and drive 2 hours home.
