Question LT-1 + t-5 ????

I've been working on a FC swap for on the weekends for a few weeks now and have come to a little snag with my clutch and I thought that someone here might of heard of this before. I started the project with '97 t-5 tranny originally for a S-10 that had been built up for circle track racing in my possesion. About a week in to my parts quest i found a very good deal on a newly rebuilt '97 LT-1. Now i have an LT-1 (something that never came with a 5 speed that i know of...) and a T-5 transmission.

Does anyone have any clue on what Pressure plate/clutch i can use to make this work? So far i have tried getting a clutch from a S-10 and a pressure plate for an LT-1 but they had problems, like the LT-1 pressure plate is a pull out style, and the S-10 clutch was a push in. If i have to, i will go get a custom clutch made, but this will take alot more time and money then if i can just order some compatable parts.

Im sure you can, but if I were you Id just get a T-56 and sell off the T-5, unless that T-5 has stronger internals so it can handle the torque?

Also, IIRC the LT1 and a SBC are basically the same except for the rear main seal, and the reverse cooling in the top end of the motor... and the opti. You could prolly call any shop that does clutches/flywheels and just ask.

Well wait a second.

How IS your T-5 built? "Built for circle track racing" is pretty nonspecific. If its strong enough and has good gear ratios its not a bad idea to keep it, but the T-56 is guaranteed to be strong and have a taller OD for better MPG if you drive it on the street.

As far as diff lengths, you can just take it to a DS shop and get it cut to the length you need, IIRC its about 4" longer. Also, torquecentral's v8 swap section would have a lot of guys to answer all the questions you'd never need to ask. They're at http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11

Well I worked the phones a little this afternoon along with calling Granny's and they said that the drive shaft is the same length but i need to swap the tranny crossmember. It also sounds like i may of found a place that'll do a strait up trade for the transmissions. So i think my problem may be taken care of. Thanks to everyone that gave me feedback!
