LSX swap racing league/series.

Question: Do you think there are enough RX7 (1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen) swaps, 240sx, Datsun 240z/280z, older muscle car, and other platform swaps that use the LSX engine to get them ALL together and petition GM to back SCCA/NASA racing events or LSX HPDE's?

As in whatever production platform + LSX engine racing series. Lots of variety with the same engine. How do you guys think this would go over?

Answers please.

Would it be feasable to assume poeple would either particpate or watch or track the results of a HPDE/Race of an LSX engine with W/E production chasis series? Reason being that it could possibly sell more LSX engines and performance parts.

1. Would you watch/participate/track results of either an HPDE or Race event in this category?
2. If you manufacture or sell LSX related parts, would you participate or sponsor?
3. Is the close competition the main attraction or is it the relation to your car or yourself (hotrodding in a new form) that really matters?

Ok, so.

Where is everyone from who has a LSX car and that would be seriously interested in a LSX (FOR FUN) HPDE (high perf driving event) with maybe a RANDOM door prize for showing up and participating.

Say:
Yes, I would be seriously interested and would participate.
If yes, indicate what city and state you are from and what is your local road course.
No, HRforsale I would not attend.

There is already a class in NASA for LSx swaps. It is a TimeTrial group that is run within HDPE classes... based upon your mods you are in TTA, TTU (unlimited), or TTR (race).

You pay $500-750/weekend in entry fees/gas/tires/food/hotel to race in NASA... if you win... you get a nice $2 "medal" and stand on the podium. People race in NASA for the enjoyment of it... there really isn't any money to win. You can probably gain some small sponsorship... but in the end... the money always comes out of your pocket.

In SCCA you would be classed with the full blown race cars I imagine.....

So yes you can certainly race currently.... but unless the car is a full blown race car you would not be competitive. You would be racing against cars like the Radical or Stohr race cars with 950lbs wet weight with 1,000cc motor cycle engines making 150-200hp that would absolutely kill any LSx powered car.

I doubt GM would back any form of racing that doesn't use a GM chassis. Good luck spinning your wheels with that one. Unless it generates revenue.... companies don't simply toss money into the air for marketing/promotions etc.

A chevy engine in a ford gets more publicity than a chevy in a chevy. Other than that: more LSX engines and parts sold = more LSX engines and parts sold.

I'll have to check that out. Is it LSX only swaps for that event for just anything?
I wonder if we could get enough support to get the Super Chevy Show to pick it up.
