Few quick questions on V8 conversion

I has been a long time since I've posted on this forum. Had a 7 and loved it to death. But after an accident and then a motor blowing it wasn't worth keeping. It has been my second most missed car, second to my 65 mustang. So I had the idea of picking up another one and throwing a V8 into it.

I've started poking around a little but but haven't found what I was looking for yet. I'm probably just not looking in the right places. My general plan so far is:

1. Gen 1 350 SBC (I'd be a spare if I had problems with my IROC)
2. Carb'd not FI

That is about it that is set in stone so far. Now my questions are:

1. Can you run full length headers or shorties only?
2. I'd like a tranny that lines up perfectly (shifter wise, and prefer manual), which is suggested?
3. Is the easiest rear to use to 7's? Obviously TII is prefered.

Thanks

Edit: LOL, my old sig is still there, guess I should edit that...

Carb'd SBC + LT1 T56 6 speed will fit fine and line up with the shifter hole.

Granny's Speed Shop makes mid-length headers that fit fine.

Either rear will work, but if you want to make any HP a TII rear is recommended. With the 6 speed the 4.10 gears won't really hurt you.

Also, search button works great.
