i tried searching google, but could not find any height dimensions for the LS9 crate motor.
considering an LS9 crate motor costs over $20k, you could get the same power for about $12-14k by doing an LS2 plus adding a supercharger.
a centrifugal supercharger would probably be easier to fit under the stock hood.

LS7s are more like 14k as a crate motor (much less used), but those tend to net ~550 whp with a medium cam.
I like the idea of the LS9 because I prefer a flat torque curve. That said, traction control is probably the next order of business to help you get the power down.

There is a video with a gentleman in which has that setup and is pushing 1000+ whp

simply put buying an ls9 is stupid at this time. the cost is way to high and you would simply be paying for the name. got hp is correct in stating to buy an ls2. even the ls7 costs arent justified unless you have bottomless pockets. Hinson offers a turbo kit for the FD but I have also heard of one person going SC. if you go boosted plan on not having AC. I also believe that SC would have potential clearance issues because of the height (its TIGHT) and how close the belt is to the radiator. anything is possible with enough $$ but you would be better off going boosted LS2. SC or Turbo will both fit but there is mail order parts for a turbo kit and custom fabrication would be needed to go SC.
I could help alot with any info or advice because ive completed the swap. however mine is N/A so the boosted stuff you would be on your own.

I have a ls9 turbo engine going in my fd specs are ls9 block calies dragon Slayer crank.callies ultra rods, wisco pistons,cnc ported ls9 heads.ls3 intake. Gts76 turbo. Stainless works turbo headers. Built t56 and a cobra 8.8 rear.
