LS1 FC Hard numbers and impressions...
A lot of data out there for LS1 FDs, but how is the weight distribution effected for the FC? Handling? It feels as if this has been covered well enough, but I can't find many threads searching for it at all...

Its a dead horse and the search button would do you well.
Or I can just spell it out.
Kukris IRON BLOCK 350 v8 FC out autocrossed a STi and a Z06 on inferior rubber (245s out back.. kooks that never hook up) spinning and drifting all over the place.
V8's obviously annihilate NA rotaries at power delivery and most turbo rotaries as well, and have NA throttle responce - not a turbo's.
Because of the design of the Chassis itself AND the dimensions of a v8 being quite compact, it rarely upsets handling by throwing off weight balance in any signifigant way. Sure, it might have a measurable shift to the front OR rear (as in the case of a certain LT1 swap that was tail heavy even with PS ans AC...) but ultimately the differnece is 100# or so put into the middle of the car, but a lot more power and torque.
The only real issue is the 4.10 gearing is arguably slightly on the short side, but a T-56 fixes that fast... and you obviously NEED good tires with any v8 on the fast side of a LT1.... which itself makes a FC a 13 second car.
BTW, why dont we have a sticky yet?

handling is unaffected in my eyes.
weight distribution is the same as a TII.
probably not a lot of threads started about handling and balnce for swapped FCs but the info has been typed out over and over and over and over among other threads where people ask general questions about the swaps.
seriously I think tire size and suspension setup effect your cars handling twice as much as whether it has a rotary or LS1 in the engine bay. you can make an iron block v8 rx7 dance nimbly on tip toes around an autox course on the right tires and suspension.

Well, its just that we have say, corner weights and skidpad numbers for LS1 FDs, but not really for FCs...that was what I was looking for.
Yes, I've read many testimonials from people that handling isn't changed much at all. I was just intrested in some data, that's all. Thanks for the responses, BTW.

lol, seems we nipped this in the bud
I like how 88IntegraLS said that "it didnt feel like a japanese sportscar anymore, it was more like a pantera or another exotic" with regards to the swap. Yeah, it took out the soul... and put in a whole new demon in to the old flesh
Personally I'll take Rob Zombie's dragula with the ability to take a corner and stop on a dime before something ricey, given the choice!

fc corner weights

Like I said in that thread, 200 pounds can easily be offset with a 150 shot.

Ls1 Fc
All I got to say is it is a little more front heavy and you can feel the front being a little lazy, but once it digs in it is fine. Just have to get used to it and play with the suspension to make it more responsive. Way better then a 20B BTW.

An LS1 or Ford 302 should actualy be lighter in the nose than a TII. My Ford 302 FC was, and had a 49/51 f/r weight distribution with a total weight of 2720 lbs. 1.02 Gs on the skidpad with Yokohama A008RSII tires. weights, Corner balance and alignment set with me in the car.
