Might want to try asking in the "other engine conversion" section. Your prlly just get stupid remarks about you having an ls1 in your 7, instead of an answer.

I know the ls1's will fit under the stock hood, so I don't see why not with an aftermarket hood. Try searching around, i'm sure you can find some pics or some sort of info.

A lot of aftermarket vented hoods like the Scoot hood have low-hanging "water trays" or braces on the underside or swoop downward in front of the engine to pull air from the back of the radiator/intercooler and would probably hit the intake and/or throttle body on an LS1.

I think he's just wondering if he can get a "styled" aftermarket hood that works with an LS1, and I'd have to say the chances are probably slim. All the readily-available aftermarket hoods are made to clear rotary engines and components.

v8rich on torquecentral.com has a prototype M2 hood vented CF hood that looks great, however M2 stopped making them. He's running an LS6. He is the only person that I have seen with an LS* motor and aftermarket hood.

I've heard that the VIS version of the Scoot hood will clear. At least one was test fit on one of Hinson's mules. Haven't seen pictures though.

Don't deal with VIS! I had a hood of theirs years ago and it was total crap. Nothing lined up, all the corners were shitty and textured, not to mention it broke in 2 pieces and the top part flew off at 40mph 5 minutes after I installed it!

Well, I wasn't planning on it. I've heard mixed reviews from people on VIS products. Some people seem to like them just fine, others (like you) had bad experiences and hate them.

I'll be sticking with my stock hood and body for awhile. At most I might run some flares if I decide to run some big meats in back. For now I'll just live with a lack of traction...well, the lack of traction I'd have if my car moved under its own power.

can you use a strut tower bar with an LS1? because the RE hood has big vents, but no big duct in the center like the scoot and it fits over my strut tower bar fine. i would think that if the stock hood fits, the RE N1 or RE-A AD9 hood should fit fine. does the LS1 sit higher than where the alternator is on the FD?

Damn I thought you had to chop up the frc's to make them fit.
