hood clearence

i am trying to make up my mind on if i am going to swap a v8 into my 88 coupe. i have a question. What intake and carb setups will clear my turbo2 hood that are capable of good power through out the power band?(pics would be nice to) i havent havent made up my mind on the ford or chevy small blocks but this choice will be made on the answer to the first question. also were are fuel injected small blocks found other then in the camaro, vette, mustang ect.(other then the likely cars i mean). and lastly i know were a t5 out of a 99 cobra mustang is for $1000, is this a good deal? the tranny is in good condition and is complete. thank you for your time i am new to this whole piston thing and need some guidence and help deciding on what to do with my car. thank you again

I recommend you take a look at some of the photos on Grannys web site, several Fords and Chevs in 2nd gens. I have said this here before, you are taking on a pretty big project and making a small modification to your hood when everything else is done should be the least of your worries. If you can do an engine swap, you certainly should be able to put a bigger scoop in your hood, or raise the stock one a bit and keep it looking stock.

Ive seen plenty clear the hood, it depends on what engine youre running and if its carb or EFI.

Ill tell you right now if youre willing to save or have the money now... get a LS1. You will not regret it.

i am looking at going 5.0l ford from a 88 gt mustang, i will be getting the whole car at a great price, under 2000. the motor is strong and i will have plenty of parts to part off the mustang aswell as my rx7. i belive(although i have not done this specific swap yet) that this swap should be no harder the a 13b turbo2 swap in a first gen or 460ci ford in a ranger both that i have done and had great sucess with. i have been reading alot about the swap and think that it should be in my range of ability, the only thing i am not shure about yet is the cooling system and the wiring but am confident in be able to sort this out. also the minor fab work that is needed should not be much of an issue as i need to replace some tin on the front passenger side of the car around the rad support and have lots of access to many tools and experinced fabricators cause i work in a shop were 1 in 2 people have built there drag cars that range from the mild to full pro stock cars. any other tips would be great and am always open to hints and sugestions. so to any helping to make the rest of the rotory guys angery at me i will here them.
