anyone heard of wrongmotor.com?

Hey Guys,

I'm getting ready to do the normal LS1 swap into my '86 Rx-7. I know the big two names are always Granny's and Hinson as far as this swap goes, but a buddy of mine found this wrongmotor.com website and sent it to me. I haven't been able to get a hold of the guys in charge there, but I was wondering if anyone else has delt with them, and knows if they do good work. The pictures on the web sight look pretty good, but I've been around enough to know that a lot of "car experts" really aren't good at all, and the last thing I need ot to get screwed out of money for this swap.
I haven't heard too many bad things about Hinson, and it's 50/50 good and bad as far as I can tell with Granny's... but again, any info on these wrongmotor guys would be great! Thanks a lot!

I would suggest doing it yourself. Its a big learning experience and fun. As a bonus when something breaks you know your car that much better. Lets face it most professional mechanics dont like working on hybrids. So IMHO your better off doing the conversion yourself and doing future repairs yourself as well. If you need a tool..buy it..if you need to learn to wire...learn. Youll know every wire under that hood and future repairs will be much easier. If you dont have a engine lift buy one...youll still save money compared to hiring out the entire swap. If you still want to hire it out prepare to spend some $$$...your car do what you want,Shawn

Most of the negitive stuff I've heard about grannys is several years old, I think there customer service and communication has gotten a lot better since then. I can't say enough good about my experiences with grannys, I'm 110% happy.

Custom makes a great point about putting it together yourself. While I understand that hiring it out is easier and I don't blame you whatsoever, it just leaves you in the dark on things. I haven't finished my swap yet but I know how the front suspension works so much better after taking it apart and putting it back together.

I don't know much about wrongmotor except that it has some good pictures.

I'm pretty sure his site is just showing off his swap (and other friends' cars). I haven't heard anything about him producing any swap parts.

My site just basically is for fun. Pics and video for friends and family. However, I've done about 12 swaps (in FC's) for friends, or friends of friends. I'm trying to get out of it, as it's not my day job and takes up too much time. I have two here that are almost done. When they're gone, I'm not taking on any more for awhile. I need to spend some time on my own RX-7's for once.

Although I wouldn't **** on Hinson if he was on fire, I will say that if I were buying a "kit", I'd get it from him.

FYI.... I do have a design, unlike Hinson and Grannys for LS1 / FC mounting. I have a place make them up as I need them. They're not for sale as a kit though, only if I do a whole swap for someone.

I didn't know you didn't sell any "kit" stuff. Right now my car has a craddle from granny's (I bought it that way) with a 383sbc in it, with only the tach hooked up. If you've done 12 cars you've probably got the wireing down to a fine art... Like I said, I baught the car half way through some other guys v8 swap, so all I did was the bare minimum to get the car running. Could you e-mail me a "check list" of what to do wireing-wise on the car? You cars looked pretty clean under the hood!

Send me a reminder at mark@wrongmotor.com and I'll try to help you out. As long as you don't have the Hinson stuff I be glad to assist some.
