IF you have an SA, an 84 or 85 GSL rear end will be an upgrade. You could also get a Ford 8.8 from an Explorer or Mustang. Explorer has to be narrowed unless you want to run flares and clearance the tunnel for the offset pumpkin

Note that nothing is going to bolt right in. Any rear will need the original brackets cut off and new ones welded on to mount to your suspension links. (Except an original 1st gen rear, of course, which can't handle 200hp).

my 85 GSL rear end held 300 hp for drifting, and would be ok for a street car but I never launched it

I need a 27 spline slip yoke, the bolt in radiator kit, and the 8.8 axle kit which sadly im probably gonna have to find some alternatives for getting these now. Thanks anyway though, and im sure you could help some other folks out here in the V8 Section!

I did the 8.8 myself, I can measure my radiator for you, there are plenty of options on Jegs or Summit for a similar radiator. Slip yoke should be easy to find

Hey all!
Have been calling Granny's for the pst few months as I got parts for my swap. He answered half the time and I was just trying to get info from him. Finally, beginning of September, I was ready to place my order, je sent me the invoice later that day on paypal, told me about a couple weeks. Called him after a couple weeks told me it was almost done. Couple weeks later I call again, tells me I'll have it later that week, and I ask if it's already in the mail, he told me that it was about to be. Get an email from PayPal telling me the shipping label was created and package was on the way, check the tracking # and its just created, not at the post office, kinda annoying, but I gave him another week and still no change. Call him again after another week and he says he mailed it out earlier that day, but the tracking number wasn't updated said he sent me an email and would send another. Didn't happen, so that day I called PayPal, told them the situation because on their end they saw the package as shipped already which wasn't the case. Gave him a few hours and called him back and low and behold, he sent it about 10 minutes prior to me calling him. Got my parts exactly 6 weeks after ordering them. I get that people get busy and can forget stuff, but when you take money upfront and prolong it as you see fit is a little annoying. All I got was the ls basic kit with a tkx crossmember. Idk if they fit, my motor is no longer ready to test fit (it was but I took it back apart and I dont have the trans yet, but I hope they do. There weren't instructions, so I am not entirely sure what goes were or how, but oh well I'll figure it out. He doesn't do rear ends or the bigger parts anymore. If its just brackets, he said he should be able to do it, but it may take a while.

Thanks for updates on Granny’s Shop V8 swap biz

I have an FB Endurance road race car with Ford 302 (Explorer engine) and rear end, driveshaft from Granny’s that I plan to campaign this year and have been worried to hear about turn around and Granny’s not making 1st Gen swap parts anymore, so hope he continues as he has all the jigs! If he is not continuing production and inventory or built to order, then in my opinion as a former race shop owner who built custom parts, I would post the drawings on line as a service to those who bought the parts from him so they can repair them in case of the unfortunate case of accident where stuff gets bent and broke, can get back on track or the road without too much unnecessary labor and expense.

Appreciate the update, after seeing so many troubling posts about Granny’s Speed Shop availability and delays, as well as loss of other RX7 swap parts providers being lost for the early non FD chassis.

When I was going through my troubles with him ("8 to 12-week turn-around on all rears" turned into 6 months and stopped payment) he told me that he wasn't really doing RX parts anymore because there was no market for them. Real bummer because I wanted to buy other parts from him and have him convert my gauges ( another service he used to perform). He said he's focusing on his "Clutch Tamer" product now. None of the bracket racers I know have ever heard of this product,.. but whatever. He used to make cool stuff for our cars, and now he advertises the same cool stuff and takes peoples money. I wish I tried this build 10 years ago when his heart was still in it.

BTW my 500 mile rear whines horribly and I'll probably end up having it gone through / rebuilt by a local race shop. Granny's = BUYER BEWARE.

I build 8.8 rear ends now, but it takes forever since it is a side business for me and family and work take priority.

Have you tried contacting them via email or phone? You you can't talk to them that might be an indication.

No longer producing RX-7 parts, left the website up so others could use the pics and info for inspiration and guidance.
