Talking Domestic Parts in a RX-7

What do u people think about putting a V8 302 into an RX-7. I plan to take out the motor, drive line, and the rear end and replace it all with a V8 302 built at home and a custom rear end and drive line from a mustang.Putting coil-overs and a couple more things in it. I want to know what u other people think. Also I know u can't just put the motor in. U have to change some things. I just want everyone's input. thanks

ok here's what youre going to do buddy, youre going to drive your 7 to oakville, park it in the student residence parking lot, leave the keys in it, and walk away. I will take good care of it. Next, go buy a 5.0l mustang. Kthx.

The reason I put all that mustang stuff in it is cause the insurance on a mustang is stupid and an RX-7 weighs less and my family drag races so I got all the parts for cheap.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. With weight that light and an engine that powerful, it will be very fast. Yes it is a pretty good idea, now let's keep it an idea, and go buy yourself an old Corvette or something.

You might as well drop a 302 in a CRX it weighs less than any FC. Leave the RX-7 alone.

Its not about being cheap. Its about enjoying something that is rare. To me the RX cars are for enthusiasts not people that are looking for BANG for the BUCK. I don't really care if you have gone faster I don't drage race or race at all for that matter.

As others have suggested, try www.v8rx7.com , and also Im sure youve been to www.grannysspeedshop.com . I too was contemplating a v-8 swap in my rx-7, but I want a Lt1/T-56. Probably gain less than 100lbs total with the swap, and with removed A/C, P/S , aluminum hood and battery relocation, would come out even, if not less, and remain 50/50 weight distribution. Yes there is the issue that the engine sits slightly higher, and further forward, but I dont think its anything to be concerned about, escpecially for a street car. Even with a stock LT1 the car would run deep into the 13s all say long. I decided that I like the rotary too much, and would rather spend twice as much to go as fast, but thats just me and I can see why others wouldnt want to go that route. I love well-done V-8 swaps, its the hack jobs that rednecks do that get me upset. Good luck on the swap.

Why are you people so closed minded?

Just because there are people on the forum that can fabricate and do this them selfs, and you can't?

Get over it!
