Domestic Parts in a RX-7

What do u people think about putting a V8 302 into an RX-7. I plan to take out the motor, drive line, and the rear end and replace it all with a V8 302 built at home and a custom rear end and drive line from a mustang.Putting coil-overs and a couple more things in it. I want to know what u other people think. Also I know u can't just put the motor in. U have to change some things. I just want everyone's input. thanks

GTFO!

Bio-Weapon 09-17-03 04:41 PM

oh dear i live near this guy.
ok here's what youre going to do buddy, youre going to drive your 7 to oakville, park it in the student residence parking lot, leave the keys in it, and walk away. I will take good care of it. Next, go buy a 5.0l mustang. Kthx.

Demon RX-7 09-17-03 04:51 PM

The reason I put all that mustang stuff in it is cause the insurance on a mustang is stupid and an RX-7 weighs less and my family drag races so I got all the parts for cheap.

RoninAutoBoX 09-17-03 04:51 PM

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. With weight that light and an engine that powerful, it will be very fast. Yes it is a pretty good idea, now let's keep it an idea, and go buy yourself an old Corvette or something. :D ;)

1987RX7guy 09-17-03 04:53 PM

You might as well drop a 302 in a CRX it weighs less than any FC. Leave the RX-7 alone.

Liquid Anarchy 09-17-03 04:55 PM

check out www.v8rx7.com

most people here are stubborn, or don't know any better *cough*SANTIAGO*cough*

I almost did it to my GTU, but decided agenst it.

Demon RX-7 09-17-03 04:56 PM

A CRX isn't rear wheel drive. U figure it out.

1987RX7guy 09-17-03 04:56 PM

Oh well. Anyways go to that link liquid posted or the other engien swap not here.

Demon RX-7 09-17-03 05:00 PM

Hey 1987RX-7Guy whats in your car? How much money have u spent on it. I've probably spent less and gone faster!

1987RX7guy 09-17-03 05:01 PM

Its not about being cheap. Its about enjoying something that is rare. To me the RX cars are for enthusiasts not people that are looking for BANG for the BUCK. I don't really care if you have gone faster I don't drage race or race at all for that matter.

1987RX7guy 09-17-03 05:02 PM

Oh and the 302 is not hard to beat at all even in my N/a so I wouldn't talk big. ;)

Demon RX-7 09-17-03 05:04 PM

Well different people have cars for different reason. U like your car the way it is and I respect that. I want a bang for my buck and I hope u respect that.

As others have suggested, try www.v8rx7.com , and also Im sure youve been to www.grannysspeedshop.com . I too was contemplating a v-8 swap in my rx-7, but I want a Lt1/T-56. Probably gain less than 100lbs total with the swap, and with removed A/C, P/S , aluminum hood and battery relocation, would come out even, if not less, and remain 50/50 weight distribution. Yes there is the issue that the engine sits slightly higher, and further forward, but I dont think its anything to be concerned about, escpecially for a street car. Even with a stock LT1 the car would run deep into the 13s all say long. I decided that I like the rotary too much, and would rather spend twice as much to go as fast, but thats just me and I can see why others wouldnt want to go that route. I love well-done V-8 swaps, its the hack jobs that rednecks do that get me upset. Good luck on the swap.

You have 507 hp and you want to throw nitrous on it? I hope that you have a 4 bolt block, otherwise you ay not have one at all for very long.

Demon RX-7 09-17-03 05:43 PM

Demon RX-7 09-17-03 05:44 PM

1987RX7guy 09-17-03 07:05 PM

cdk 4219 09-19-03 04:09 PM

Arent you in the V8 good or bad poll stating that you have a 507 (or around there) HP 302 rx7 that stomps all the imports? Are you building another one? tell us again about your 500hp 302 please

Demon RX-7 09-19-03 07:24 PM

Actually I am in the middle of building the car. The motor is out of my brother's 1989 Mustang. The chassis still needs work I will give you a list of whats in it in a little bit.

Cory Simpson 09-20-03 12:28 PM

Why are you people so closed minded?

Just because there are people on the forum that can fabricate and do this them selfs, and you can't?

Get over it!
