Are those carbs or individual throttle bodies?

yeah, but once you put that heavy v-8 in there, you lose your handling balance.

I wonder sometimes why there aren't more V-6 swaps done for this reason.

Thats awesome.
Pretty sure I see fuel rails,so Id say EFI. And Im pretty sure that'd be an aluminum engine, being overhead cam, multivalve and all.At the very least least aluminum heads.I would bet his handling is just fine.
Any guessers on the engine? The timing and valve covers dont look familiar and the fact its RHD makes me think its probably out of some crazy Aus. car we've never seen in person......

Here is the auction:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/a...56&permanent=0

It says it is for a toyota 1uz V8. The opening bid is $2400 for the TB setup (no manifold).

TWM makes some nice TBs as well.

No bitch against V8s here. I love the old pushrod V8 although I don't really consider droppign one in my SE. I am more of a traditionalist so I want to upgrade what is there as opposed to dropping a whole new block into another car.

I still don't think the weight and front end weight is worth it but anyone who likes the V8 power, to each their own I guess.

I can do you one better.

How about a V8 built with two Hyabusa 1300CC heads! 2.6 liter V8 with massive redline and only about 16" long! 300+ HP with stock heads and intake. Could be + another 50 HP with some fuel and intake modification. I machine parts for a guy who builds these. Sweet engine.

I have looked into going with V8 swaps, and if you go with the right setup, you do not add very much weight at all. There are a lot of guys with V8s that are at 50/50 balance. In some contests that have been performed, V8 rx7s have beat rotary rx7s in all categories, including handling. I'm not saying it is the be-all and end-all, but it doesn't seem to hurt the car like some people beleive. I'm tearing down my 12a this winter (doesn't run right now), and if it's in bad shape, the car is gonna have a 5.0 Ford.

Heh... that's novel, seeing my dad's old Lexus LS400 engine in an RX-7

I agree with 3rd and final. I have never had any interest in swapping my rotary for any piston engine. Sure, it might be fun to have the power for a little while, but in the end it just wouldn't be the car that I fell in love with. It would be like an RX-7 with no soul. That probably sounds corny, but that's how I feel. Personally, I'd couldn't rob my car of what makes it so unique.

Supercharged ones. 180HP:80LBS/TORQUE looks like a crap ratio.

Yeah it will. Racing Beat has the3 rotor single turbo. I think it said it's pushing 1000bhp, for $48,000.
